Information

The Waitaki District Council looks after this campsite and for a small fee you can experience the goodness. Please register and pay on arrival - information is on the registration booths.

Take the road out towards Totara Station, drive past the Benmore View Campsite and follow the windy road along the lake shore. Falstone is huge, and beautiful! The campsite itself is quite high - out of the flood zone, there is a boat ramp down below. You can find some wicked spots underneath douglas fir trees over looking the lake - this place is really popular with the seasonal locals, so many of the prime spots have been taken.

Strangely enough this was to be a setting for a movie which is currently on hold - pretty weird seeing all the half finished ancient style buildings.

A lovely camp ground among a variety of trees, ground is very stony with little to no grass, flush toilets, boat ramp at the entrance makes enjoying the lake easy, there is a lot of permanent camps setup
but plenty of space for everyone, we will definitely return.
