Information

Otematata Boat Harbour campground

The Waitaki District Council looks after this campsite and for a small fee you can experience the goodness. Please register and pay on arrival - information is on the registration booths.

A busy campsite next to the main boat ramp heading onto Lake Benmore at Otematata. This is a very sheltered spot in amongst tall mature trees with a large open spot in the middle - like many of these Waitaki Campsite, locals have set up for the long haul.

You can get supplies at the shop in Otematata.

    • Great place for freedom camping.
    • Good place right on the highway.
    • A little pricey for what it is, but we loved it.

Good place right on the highway.

Clean toilet and flushing $20 per night and very peaceful and quiet.

A little pricey for what it is, but we loved it.

Beautiful spot by the river, nice walks, great view of the stars at night, clean toilets. Not busy at all, which we liked. We barely saw another soul. The only catch is you have to boil the water before you drink it. We brought our own drinking water to the site.
