Toilet are clean, there is a drinkable water tap by the beach, close to the cycle path (easier to fill water tanks).

    Great place to stay,

2 nights only -close to the road but non so noisy

    Good phone service

    Cheers

    Right on the beach.

Not much of a vibe. Perhaps due to the painting on the bathroom of the girl that kind of spooked me :-/

The weather was also kinda funky so maybe that added to it. It was right on the beach which was nice.

    Beautiful spot.

Loved sitting on the beach watching the moon at night. Wish for it to be bigger though, only takes two big motorhomes/vans for the whole place to be filled. There is space outside the marks that could be used during night. Otherwise, lovely place. Thank you for letting us travellers use it.

Re freedom camping here and a reviewer who said locals were ' casing' the joint.

I don't know if you are a Kiwi or visitor, but that comment was totally unnecessary, unless you have the proof. Take more care what you say. I had no issues here at all. Noise from caravan was only reason I didn't give a 10

8 clearly marked spaces right next to the toilets and the beach.

If you manage to get the beachside spots then you can have a lovely view. There is also a drinking water fountain close by. The spaces get filled up quickly, I was there from around 1400 and by 1600 all the spaces were taken, so I’d recommend you get there early. There were quite a few self contained vehicles in these spaces, it would’ve been nice had they gone elsewhere and allowed those non-self contained to stay here given that there is limited places for them. There is plenty of space for other vehicles to park up for the night, just not within the allocated spots. When I stayed there the place was full, I’m assuming if you are self contained then they allow you to stay there even if parked outside of the marked spots as this is a heavily monitored place and as far as I’m aware no one was asked to move. Toilets were clean and spacious.

Several spots for either self contained or even not self contained at the coast.

Can't see the pdifference regarding facilities so makes no sense where non self contained can park and where they can't. Get there early as spots are limited even though there is lots of space. Frustrating! Facilities were good.

    Limited to 8 parks.

    Free, with 24hr toilet.

Get here early, fills up even in cold months. And be VERY aware, the parks are the 8 outlined parallel sites near blue loo. Four each side. Monitored daily, avoid the fines. Bins supplied for campers

Unclear marking of where freedom is legal.

We along with many others got a $200 fine for not being in the marked areas. The officer was there in the evening but didn't warn anyone of the infringement. We woke up to a fine in our window. Great place to be if you can get a park, but very busy.

For a free camping spot there's no complaints from us!

We were a bit skeptical to stay based on previous comments but in the end we stayed there because the other freedom option didn't have a toilet.

Great spot right on the ocean! Very clean toilets too! There was one old vagrant in his car all night and left early in the morning, he did have a chat to some other campers but we avoided him and he was no trouble. I would recommend and stay again!

    Amazing freedom campsite.

Has flushing toilets that are really clean, a sink and drinking water. Quiet and next to the beach. Best freedom campsite we have visited so far!!

    Top spot perfect for sunrise.

We stayed in our Jucy Cabana and a lot of other people camped similarly. Clean toilets open all night.

We arrived here, and while the view was amazing, some locals arrived at roughly 8pm, and didn't turn their music down until roughly 12/1am.

Furthermore, apparently the night before they had changed the carpark to only 8 freedom camping spaces, and although we were parked within the lines, a knock at the window at 3am telling us to leave, or it was a $200 fine with no prior warning was uncalled for, it would be nice if there was more clear signage indicating where to park.

Spot was overrun by drunk locals in really shabby cars.

Did NOT feel safe at all. Would be a good spot without them. Parking lot right next to this one is for self-contained vehicles, that one seemed a whole lot safer. Ended up going somewhere else last minute due to non-self contained vehicle and unsafe feeling. Bummer!
