Beautiful campgrounds, but it is becoming an unruly place.

During our one late afternoon/overnight on the campgrounds, the campgrounds were used by three teenagers on a quad bike, another two teenagers came wheelspinning through the park with a big vehicle, several dubious characters were frequenting the park, and at about 00:30 in the morning, we were woken by the lights of someone looking for white bait (illegally to be caught at night) in the nearby stream. The next morning I was warned by a local to “watch out for the crackheads”, as he was refering to the dubious characters of the previous day. Note also, there are currently no boards indicating that it is a freedom campsite, or the boards has been removed.

A stunning place visually, but not a campsite I would recommend for people travelling alone or for vulnerable travelers.

    * THE ABOVE PERSONS COMMENT IS NO LONGER VALID.

COUNCIL HAS PUT UP SIGNS THERE SAYING NO CAMPING PERMITTED. BEAUTIFUL SPOT THOUGH! *

The spot that Rankers has listed is really nice. I came to this spot as a last resort as I didn’t like my first pick a few hours back up the road. Very nice scenery, a few trees for shade, and picnic tables. It sits on the shore of a lagoon looking over at a sandbar that shelters the spot from the wild beach on the other side. No access to the beach unfortunately.

You need to go past where there is this dedicated Freedom Camping spot, about another 2 miles / 3 K.

A local told me about it. Lntknje on the azphLyed road which at the end makes a 180 degree U-turn. Continue another 500 meters and there is a toilet house. Beware of deep sad, but there are formally areas. For self-contained vehicles only. Two ean toilets, no water. Nobody else amled here why the site identified here probably had 10 campers in a tiny space that has no toilets. Locals. One here to exercise their dogs, BTW.
