No light in the smaller toilets....could have installed a bulb or solar bulb.
Disappointed this labour weekend
No water on sat and mon so couldn't even flush toilets or wash dishes.no toilet paper on mon morning...disgusting
Showers were a dribble.and stopped quickly..expensive for $2
Rubbish bins were overflowing.
Facilities could have been extra cleaned knowing how busy it will be for labour weekend..
$20pp is expensive overall.
Other than that beach and walks are good

Stayed here in July.
Overpriced and dirty. There are toilets but that’s about it. Showers are $2 but looked dirty and old. No space for washing up. No drinking water. Would avoid and head to the DOC campsite in Trounson Kauri Park for the same price.

Great Place next to the lake.
Quiet. The Showers are a nogo! Dirty and very old stile. Not even a place you can put your things, while you want take your Shower! Whene had they seen the last cleaning?
So, over all the 50$ vor 2 Pers/1 Night are overpriced.

Stayed at Pine Beach campground.
Stayed at Pine Beach campground. Beautiful lakeside camping. And nice bush/lakeside trail walk that goes right around I believe.
Very busy with a lot of day visitors and the campground itself full of families. Sheer volume of people generated a lot of rubbish but camp was kept well maintained and clean.
No kitchen or laundry but there are sinks for doing dishes. $2 coin 4-minute showers which are cleaned regularly. No lights in the toilets or showers so bring a torch for at night.
They had a coffee/fast food trailer and ice creams which was cool. 3G Vodafone coverage was good in spots.
Apart from all that come for the Lake. Absolutely stunning.

The second most beautiful place we stayed on our trip
The first was the other end of the lake the next night. The weather for this time of the year certainly helped. With beautful sunny days and not a breathe of wind. We were the only ones there in our area of the camp so it was very peaceful with amazing sunsets. Toilets, rubbish and dump station. Great play ground for the kids.

Spectacular camping spot.
Beautiful lake side location. Clean flush toilets and showers. ($2 for a warm shower or free cold showers) $15 pp non-powered site. Simply lovely, great spot to swim or kayak. Maybe a bit more expensive than others with similar facilities but happy to pay it for the location.

Came here because of the great reviews, but I thought it a little overrated and overpriced.
Despite to the description there was no water supply. The only warning that the water wasn't drinkable was through email when you booked. The toilets and showers were ok, you need 2$ by the way, but there were no real places to wash your dishes.
The customers were really friendly.
The campsite is a great spot for families, because children definitely won't get bored.

Owner of campground also owns other campground at lake.
Other campground rented to 100 teens celebrating all night long with very loud music hearable all over the lake even inside motorhome with ear protection. Did not inform guests about this fact. Very unfair. Never again

I would have given this a higher score if it weren't for the $3 per person booking fee that they charge.
We paid $42 (2A + 2C) for a site which only gave us access to toilets and cold showers (equivalent to what we would pay $18 for at a DOC site). However, we LOVED swimming in the lake. It was gorgeous.
