Information

London's Ford Reserve

Londons Ford is a 2.428ha reserve and is the site of a former river ferry. It has river access for swimming and a flat, open, grassed area. Mature trees, the river bed with beach access and a backdrop of cliffs define the landscape character of the reserve. Dogs are permitted on the reserve unleashed but under control.

No fees are charged to use this camping ground.

Facilities include a freedom camping area, toilets and a pump station. This is very basic camp site where you will need to bring everything with you. There is no running water and the public toilet is open from 1 November through to 31 March (though it may be longer depending on weather).

The site is clearly signposted.

This reserve is on Londons Ford Road, north east of Kimbolton.

We got here around 7:30 and it was dark already.

We had the place to ourselves and it was a pleasant night. No toilets because we visited in September but out camper had a toilet so it wasn’t an issue for us.

London's Ford is a beautiful place, well worth the visit, but there are a handful of people to watch out for.

What I'm writing is only my experience. There's a man at the top of the cliff who watches people with a scope, a man in a black jeep who chases people with a drone, a couple of young farm workers on a quad who follow people around and a council worker who likes to intimidate and bully people and fines people for looking rough or being in tents. These men seem to be intent on getting rid of everybody and what happens then is the drug dealers move in. Please don't be intimidated by these men. London's Ford needs the tourists and families to come back and make it safe again.
