Stayed last night SCC camping to the rear (don't follow signs to campsite) beautiful spot and only 1 other campervan last night.
Got busy around 9am with people accessing the reserve. Clean toilets and quite level ground.

Paid for a site through Auckland city council website.
Didnt receive a code for the gate into campsite so we contacted them through the phone at info booth on site and was told the ranger would call us. Nobody called so we just parked where we could in the parking area at the far end. We were told by the cleaning lady cleaning next day that the camp ground has been shut since june due to flooding and excess water. She said everyone just camps where we did, however after all of that it was a lovely spot and very peaceful and we would definitely recommend there are lots of clean flushing toilets nearby. Just be aware thay there were mosquitoes around in the evening.

Excellent spot for young kids with the estuary right on the campground doorstep.
Great relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of trees to act as windbreak and/or sun shade. Toilets were great and plenty of space in the campground. We will be back!

SCC camping at the rear carpark.
$16 a night (based on two people), can only purchase online at the Auckland council website.
Right next to the boat ramp and two beach heads. Great for kayaking when tide is in.
Two sets of toilets, both of decent quality. There are also rudimentary showers by the toilets near the parking spots. Cold and not the best flowing but great after a sea swim.
Busy during the day, we were here over a weekend.
Alot of short walks as well! Fantastic spot for families and a number of free to use BBQs on site as well!

This place is gorgeous.
Flushing toilets, well kept surrounds and really nice walks around the park. We paid $15 each for an unpowered site, which was fine for somewhere within an hour of Auckland. Make sure to read the gate code on the booking email attachment.

We ended up staying in the campground but note there is also a self contained camping area in the same park.
There is a small price difference between the two, but both are nice options. There is a new toilet block available in the campground and there is water. There are no showers. It is a nice open area where you can chose your own spot. It was quiet when we were there and we had a nice view over the inlet. Definitely recommended.

6 is for the new toilets which are stunning.
We go here a lot as we are local. When we saw the new camp grounds open up, we thought we'd chuck the tent up for a night and see how it was. The grounds were terrible as the ground had been ploughed and was extremely rough! And I mean extremely! The site is very exposed as no growth yet from the newly planted vegetation. So probably another 5 years at least before wind screening. It's all new, and yeah the gravel road going back to the house is rather noisy, so don't camp next to it. The old camp site was closer to the beach but boy that was run down.

Long awful process on the phone booking it as you have to go through the Council! Toilets and water, that's all you get, and about a 30 minute phone call to book!!!

This is a review for the new SCHISCHKA Campground at Wenderholme Regional Park.
A great, peaceful camp - recently new, so new plantings etc have yet to grow. Right beside the inlet. Excellent toilet block - no hot water, but plenty of cold water and drinking water fountains. One criticism would be the cost - at $13.00 per adult per night, it's quite expensive - we put that down to the new roading, plantings, toilet block costs etc, but for the security, peacefulness etc, it's worth it. We have now been 3 times and will definitely be returning.

We stayed on the new camp site, which is nicely located at the inlet and close to the water for kayaking.
The new site is a bit empty with no trees. The toilet and washing block are new and very very good. The park itself is nice, with a nice beach and good walking tracks. The only issue we had was that the traffic on the nearby road made to much noise. Compared with other camp sites in the area, this one was a little less favorite.

In a city blessed with great camping options, this is one of Auckland's finest.
Only 30 minutes north of the city. Magnificent old Pohutakawa trees line the grounds and there's plenty of interesting walks. I have stayed here a number of times and I'm looking forward to staying here again.
