despite what's written under, the power plant is barely visible from the spot.

there is a beach just nearby, you can see the mountains and hear a lot of birds. the toilets were okay and we had network. No drinking water and no showers tho

Face to the mountains, close to a private and beautiful beach, clean toilets

Private car park with walkway down to beautiful beach.

Clean toilets with lighting. Very quite in May of 23, only two vehicles.

April 23: arrived early in the morning, was swimming in the near beach and walked to Little Munro Bay and up to Mount Aubrey.

The parking lot is quite even and the toilets are okay. No drinking water though. However, picnic tables and very nice surroundings. Other cars parked the night in not designated areas and no one cared.

    Nice quiet and private site.

No views from site despite what other reviews said. Nice clean toilets, well lit even at night, but no drinking water. Boat ramp off the road just down the hill, and to the other side a quiet cove only accessible on foot. However both beaches look straight across at the oil refinery. Lot of mosquitoes at night

Nice private space, quick walk to beach and very friendly locals.

    Nice spot hidden away.

Some obviously really loved it as they had built a mini Fort on the back side of the car park where camping is not permitted. It was an interesting trio of 3 men in 2 small cars and a 3 legged dog. They slept all day with car doors open and arose at night for whatever hobbies they had. Even asking for jumper leads later in the evening. Toilet block was meh.

    Very quiet and private location.

The toilets are immaculate and there’s very good lighting day and night. At night there are lights outside as well but there’s bushes so it doesn’t shine in anyone’s face.

It’s such a lovely spot and you can do a number of walks. There was plenty of space for campers and day cars.

There’s also two picnic tables in a grassy area.

Perfect FREE place to stay, it's tucked away very nicely, lush green cliffs to the left and coast to the right, all you can hear is the sounds of birds, the start of the mount walk is a few metres away

and the car park for mount Manaia only 5 mins drive or 30 mins walk away.

When you arrive the GPS will say that the small green carpark at the bottom is it but you must drive up what looks like someones steep driveway to the left to get to this spot.

A walk up Mount Manaia is a must. It took us 1.5 hours return but the views are worth it on a sunny clear day.

Except the view and just the little noise of the Marsden Point Oil Refinery. It disturbs optically the beautiful scenery. A familiar diving and swimming place for locals.

It is a beautiful spot and has everything you want from a free campsite.

There is an oil refinery close by, but if you look the other way you are fine, because there you will see beautifull nature.

This place made my heart sing.

The world sent us here and my goodness was it right or what! Absolutely amazing views; grass, cliff rock faces, the ocean and a killer sunset, it had it all. 100m from the beach and has two 20-30minute walks we didnt have tine to do. Climb the big rock though, veiws are even better (; Only one other camper, space for three vehicles. 45 mins from whangarei. Drive to the end of reotahi road and the carparks up a steepish looking driveway with some grass and a building to the right, only one sign. HIGHLY recommend a night here!!!
