Good safe area to park up for the night.
Camper parking spots are sealed and are reasonably level. They are spread around the car park, rather than all grouped together. This is unusual but that's good. Toilets are excellent. Car park is just a few minutes walk to the beach. Take a walk up to the WW2 radar station on top of the hill. It's interesting.

Great spot -very quiet.
Beach is lovely.
A bit of a drive but worth it.
As with many of these locations no flood lights.
Accidentally over reversed a parking bay and got stuck - locals walking their dogs helped get me out !

Long windy drive from Whangarei but the reward is a beautiful beach.
Carpark is surrounded by trees. There were 4 campervans practising social distancing so spread over the whole carpark. Beautiful and quiet.

Space for 4, but this site is well worth the trip.
Beach is awesome, about 200 yards from carpark. There are quite a few tracks from here and surfing looks incredible. Toilets clean and tidy. Well worth drive and no view of oil refinery here.

Amazing!!!
There is only space for about 5 vehicles however there were about 15 there last night, spread out around the carpark, including some that weren’t CSC. No one came to check on us. Beach is a 5 minute walk from the carpark, popular surfing spot. Waves were too big for me and my boogie 🤪 toilet is open all night although it seems the outside shower has stopped working.. Super quiet and peaceful spot!

Beautiful site, 4-5 spots, have toilets and outdoor shower.
We arrived at around 2pm and were the only ones there. It filled up by around 6pm (visited November 2019). One of our favourite spots.

Location is great but only a handful of spots within a large carpark.
Very stingy of the council. Why not more space for campervans in an otherwhise empty carpark at night?? Just tell campervans to vacate after 8.30am so'they can at least stay the night.
Toilets nearby but no drinking water.

One of our favourite spots on our trip.
Only 4-5 places available for camping in a bigger car park, but people just camped close by anyway. Even for a car park, was an especially beautiful place. Trees, bushes, picnic benches all through the car park made it a scenic place. Just a small walk over the sand dunes to the beach. Was a little windy on the beach but we found our good spot to sunbathe and swim. Toilets were fairly new and clean, with a cold shower on the outside. Water is a tad murky, but it’s not meant to be drunk. Also this spot was a great place to see the stars. Loved it.

Lovely spot off beaten track.
Walk through dunes from car park spot to beautiful sandy beach. Great for surfing and walks with access to Te Whara Track.
Only 5/6 spots available so would need to get there early to avoid disappointment. Appears 4 drop toilets have recently been replaced by two toilets and cold shower facility.
Would recommend

Alright spot, just parking spaces.
Nice trees and bush around the big parking lot. Fits about 4-5 cars.
Toilets looked brand new, the tap water in there is very dirty and smells really bad.
Beach closeby is very nice and there are some bushwalks as well.
