  • Great site.

Very quiet and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend for serious free campers. Not far out of town. Great boardwalk and delightful museum.

  • Nice place, very quite and safe.

No Toilet, but nice wilderness with lots of birds and wild noices. Gate closes at night. Nice hiking trail nearby.

  • Nice camping place next to a native forest with Kauri trees and a lot of birds.

  • Great spot!

Gates closed at 8.30 (said 8pm on the sign). Toilet open all night which was great and it was such a clear night for stargazing. Only problem was the cell service - it was incredibly patchy and inconsistent. Totally fine for us as we had other things to keep us entertained!

Felt very safe and we were the only van there. Left a few dollars donation the next morning and did the Kauri walk the next day - a short walk but beautiful nonetheless

  • Lovely spot.

Clean toilets behind museum. Only one other campervan tonight.

Gates were locked before 8pm. I had gone out to get groceries and had to leave my car out on the road and walk into the caravan

Last time I was here, they never locked them at all. .
