Beautiful spot but for how much longer.
The council has painted parking lines and they are big sites (10) parks allocated for freedom camping.
This is our 2nd night and each night the small hiace van type campers just keep rollng in. In 2 spaces there are 3 vehjcles parked and 5 others with 2 vans each. The signs are very clear, 10 freedom campers). Might hit hard when they start fining people come June. Look after our freedom parks people

Stayed here one night midweek and arrived around 5pm and it was already very full.
Space for around 20 vans between the lines. Toilets weren't in great condition but are 24hr. Lovely view across the water to the city on the other side.

Lots of parking spaces and toilets are open during the night. No fresh water. Try the local fish and chips. They are amazing.

This was one of our favourite freedom camping sites in our travels around NZ but there are a couple things you should know.
The signs clearly show the spaces where freedom camping vehicles are allowed (beyond the yellow line) but there were a number of campers parked outside of this (easily double the 10 spaces permitted), however we never saw any enforcement take place. The signage also says no trailers / caravans but there are several of them parked and some of them to appear to have been there quite some time and we assumed some are 'permanent' residents. The lighting overhead is quite bright so you will want to have good curtains to block it out while sleeping. The location is great, nice view of Auckland city in the distance at night and very quiet once the last of the ferry commuters leave. No issue with the washrooms.

Arrived here around 1am.
Loved this spot
I was worried if we could be able to find any free spots, but there were heaps. Great location, right by the sea. Toilets are clean and open 24/7. It was written than we should leave by 10am but we stayed longer so did the other campervans and no one said anything.

This has been our favourite spot in our 3 weeks trip around northland.
Not too far from Auckland, right on the waters edge and next to a beach and stream. Toilets were nice enough, bins and dump station. There is a burnsco and laundry a few minutes away and coast shopping centre 10 minutes in the car and Silverdale 20 minutes. We loved the views and the atmosphere. We stayed again on our way back down.

A very busy spot, all the freedom camping spots were taken (and then campers overflowing into the Norma bags) so we had to move on unfortunately.
Beautiful view, toilets a bit dirty but all good and a dump station.

Windy spot (guess beautiful) directly at the sea.
Several spaces for cars/vans, toilets are ok. No showers. When we arrived (Was very windy and late and we couldnt drive any further), the marked parking slots were already taken, around 10 vehicles nevertheless were also parking next to the allowed spots. A Person told us someone will come Controll in the morning but we were already gone before someone came.
