    Nice spot, enough for everyone.

Just drunk people shouting but they didn't stay late so that was alright.

Two toilets available, one close around 6, and the other ones are open all night, so very convenient.

    Stayed for 2 nights.

Clearly marked area for freedom camping at the parking area near the Pak nsave end of the Brown Street. 5min walk to toilets, one way are 24hr toilets, other direction to toilets only open during the day.

As the comment bellow the areas designated are worng.

The council fined me 400$ for beeing on the green areas. Specially hard to diferentiate if you come in the dark. Public toilets are closed overnight.

Good location but the green markings indicating the spaces on the map are wrong.

The campervan spaces are the first two on the left coming from the warehouse, not the next ones. Toilets are 5 minutes away

Nice spot for freedom camping with grassy park, benches, bins, and view of the ocean.

Walking distance to all the shops. 24hr public toilet across from police station. Got busy around 6 or 7pm but still spaces left. One side of parking area is quite flat and other side is a little sloped.

Nice quiet site close to the goldfields shopping mall - pak n save, McDonald’s and the warehouse amongst other shops.

A bit confusing as there were no freedom parking signs up but we relied on the directions noted on rankers. Next to miniature train (runs Sunday) and the school of mines museum. No toilets other than by the miniature train station - maybe 50m walk and also close to birdhide and walkway. Picnic bench nearby too.

Nice quiet place to stay, not much of a view of the water, nice walk through the mangroves to a "bird hide" so sit and look at the local birds, just a short walk to the toilets by the miniature train station

Nice quiet place to stay, not much of a view of the water, nice walk through the mangroves to a "bird hide" so sit and look at the local birds, just a short walk to the toilets by the miniature train station. Warehouse, shopping centre, pak n save, KFC, mc D's just right there, It's great that the car park allows for lots of motorhome, car/boat parking, will stay again.

Really nice SC area in the center or Thames.

There is indeed no sign but as it says on the tcdc.govt.nz website (link in details) you can park opposite of the houses between “Brown Street and Esplanade Reserves from Walter Street to Thames Squash Club” which gives you a lot of parking spaces! We were the only one! Was there from 2pm to 5.30am the next morning so didn’t see the rangers. Toilets near are closed during the night but you have 24h toilets 5’ walk. It is a really quiet area. I recommend it better than the other SC Danby Field.

Perfect place for one or two nights.

    2min walk to the toilet.

    3min walk to the shoppingmall.

    Toilets are 5/10

Not very clean but it's a flush toilet.

About 10 spots, but be quick.

In summer it will be busy.

we stayed here a couple times.

    was all good.

    even little playground for todlers.

police station is 2min walk across the street, opposite the toilets.

Great overnight parking spot in town, right next to the supermarket.

I don’t expect any as this is a free spot.
