LOTR location where they filmed Edoras for the movies.
One of the most beautiful places on earth for me. It is a little bit windy but the 360 degree view is fantastic.

A long, unsealed road takes you to a beautiful valley where you can take a short walk up Mt Sunday (which is more of a hill).
Incredible panoramic views whether you are a Lord of the Rings fan or not.

Went there mid September.
It was very cloudy but the view from the top was magnificent anyway. Do not get confused after the Clearwater Lake Camp, you still have to drive around 20 minutes until you reach the parking spot.

This is a small hill that was the filming location of Edoras in Lord of the Rings.
Hike to the top and the views are stunning.

Stunning scenery in all its Lord of the Rings glory.
We loved how secluded it was at 10am, just us, mountain views, foggy fields and New Zealand sheep.

One of the most breathtaking scenery.
Even if you are not a Lord of the Rings fan you should go there. Way up the gravel road but worth it! You want to step out and take pictures all the time. Path is well maintained. Great little hanging bridge.

Short hike to a beautiful knob in a huge glacially carved valley surrounded by huge peaks.
Mt Sunday was on our radar because of LOTR but the whole area was one of the best stops on our trip- incredible scenery and hiking!

For the Lord of the Rings fan or scenery buffs, this place has it all.
Stunning views surround this hidden wonder, also know as Edoras. Nearby is Mt Potts Lodge, I highly recommend paying Tom (the owner) a visit.
