This site is on private land and the owners welcome campers, there is a sign as soon as you roll up with a few hints to adhere to. The site is right on the beach, it is exposed, but beautiful - just be aware of the weather conditions as this place would be pretty full-on in a westerly. There are no facilities so you need to be organised.
The owners main wishes include: No fires, leave driftwood, and bury your toilet waste.
Drive to the end of Richard's Road just over the Paturau Bridge.

Million dollar view right by ocean beach for free!
Private land, owners permit camping. No toilet or fresh water, need to bring your own! Walk south on low tide for 2-5km to view interesting rock formations along the beach. Beware rising tide. Beautiful when we were there, but probably not good idea in a howling westerly gale!

long drive with a good view of the kahurangi wetlands, do it during a good weather, close to the sea, lovely rocks on the beach which provide a good shelter when you take a shower haha!

Off Dry Road on Whanganui Inlet, Golden Bay, Northern West Coast. Free, no facilities.
