We stayed here for two nights and it was lovely, beautiful water views and if it’s calm you’re lucky.

We had very heavy winds. Clean toilet. Find out more on caravantheworld

There are many places for camper vans (about 30 I'd say) as there is only a general area defined where to park.

Some of the are is not really flat so better get there early for a good spot. Toilets not the best, there is a fresh water fountain next to the toilets. Lovely spot by the beach but a little bit windy.

    Lovely spot overlooking the water.

Lots of spaces there is a sign showing two very general areas where you can freedom camp. Toilets are basic. Got off the ferry late and went straight here.

Next to the highway, noisy and bright.

But only 20 minutes to the Picton ferry which we caught at 5 o’clock am. The campsite was very crowded.

It's basic but there's quite a lot of spaces so it's good if you arrive a bit later and couldn't find a spot higher up on the coast (as those have very limited spaces).

This states 5 sites but actually has much more. The only restriction is to stay in some areas defined on a board at the entrance (blue zones). Toilet are basic but were ok and not too far from the park area. Good for a night before taking the ferry in Wellington.

As stated previously there is a designated area but well over 20 vehicles could fit here.

Toilets open 24 hours, very basic and not very clean. Windy/ cold spot but stunning scenery/ views to wake up to, supermarket just a 10 minute walk away

Don’t be discouraged by the numbers they state online - there is signage at the spot but it doesn’t have a restriction on numbers - just areas you are allowed to park, and there is plenty.

Pretty windy spot and the public toilets nearby are very basic but functional. The channel in front of the parking area is very tidal and no good for swimming or fishing

Great place to park up very close to the water and wonderful views.

Toilets close and open all night. Very popular with other campers and safe. Water and dump station nearby at the BP petrol station.

Place is nice but quite noisy since its near the road and railway.

When we stayed at the campsite there were some locals parking at the foreshore and playing loud music til late. There is a public toilet around which was fine but a little dirty.

The campsite is alright if you are just staying for one night otherwise i would stay somewhere lese.

Great spot in front of a lovely scenery, lots of space (approx.

30 campervan/motor homes, maybe more), shaded by many trees.

A toilet block is nearby, cleaned every morning. The trash cans around the campsite could be emptied more often.

Rather quiet location as you cannot hear the road but you'll hear the trains coming from & to Wellington as well as some boats. On weekends, it get busier & a hall a few hundred meters away from the camp site can be noisy if rented to teenagers (as yesterday night ^^)

Not far from train station, grocery stores, shopping center, and a beautiful walk on the other side of the water!

Very busy, with wing-mirror to wing-mirror parking.

We got the last spot on arrival at about 5pm. Very convenient for the ferry (but double Google Maps estimated travel time if you're heading for the ferry, due to traffic and road maps). You'll need some levellers for your campervan unless you get lucky.

Great waterfront spot to spend the night.

Signage of where to park not that clear but lots of other vans there so we just parked between them. Nice to walk along water front and easy walk to shops including supermarket and great bar D4 with fast wifi. Booked ferry tickets for next day there through direct ferries and was surprised by almost $70 in free meal vouchers to use during trip. Train station close good spot to park and train into Wellington. Toilets a stroll away.

Great place to stop to catch the early ferry.

Clean toilets close by, New World supermarket and Sandbar pub within walking distance.

Only bad thing was that someone left the fan on full blast all night. It was windy.

I'll bet that people thought that we were up to monkey business in the van,but it was the wind honest.

Free sites along a waterfront road.

To the left toward the marina, to the right ends in a carpark with access to the beach. Behind the sites are playing fields with clean toilets, ruin of a historic building, a playground and a train station within a short walk. Every facility you need including groceries, cafes and laundry are a short drive away. Staying here we caught the sunset with a quiet glass of wine, and had a restful night before catching the early interislander the next morning. Locals were lovely. When we woke motorhomes and campervans were lined up close to each other and it seems many of us were waiting for the Interislander also.

    SO WINDY.

We pulled up on the right hand side as you go in as the left was full. I'm assuming that they were all experts in wind prediction as us and one other were the only ones to brave it out on that side of the site. Although the site itself is great and has toilets, the wind was terrifying. I'm sure I'm overreacting but I did google wind speeds that cause vans to blow over because it was shaking the van! Great spot for the brave though.

Free with public toilet in walking distance.

Enough space to park motorhome and to sit outside with a decent Sauvignon was excellent. There's a playground and fields too for kids to run off energy after day in van. Dump station in garage 1/4 mile away. Very handy.

Busy stop off point maybe 20 motorhomes including a few big coach motorhomes but then it was Saturday night and it is very convenient for ferry terminal.

Certainly one of the windiest overnight stops we have been to. Great for access to the water for boating kayaking etc. Bonus is the BP fuel station nearby which has toilet dumping, waste recycle, and water.

The place we were planning to stay at wasn't accessible as the road was closed, so this was a great find!

The views of the estuary were beautiful, although we stayed there during particularly unseasonably windy weather and the camper rocked us from side to side like we were on a boat. Perfect for accessing Wellington - catch a train from across the tracks for around $15 return. We also used this as a convenient stop off before catching the ferry to the South Island - took around 15 minutes in no traffic!

Proper flush toilets available down the lane a little way.
