Wonderful place!
Very quiet. Right by the ocean. Plenty of room on the grass between boat ramp and the changing shed. Self contained only. Beautiful rock beach. Great sunrises. Can be exposed to wind. A tavern 1km down the road with great pub food. Sunscreen and mosquito repellent needed. Beautiful star gazing at night on a clear night. Views of Stewart Island

Awesome spot right on the ocean.
Good surf spot too for those keen. The toilets are bolted shut now, but we’re not not appealing anyway. Had the place to ourselves.

Open beachfront parking area at southern end of Colac Bay.
Last night there were a dozen MH’s well spread out in space available. White noise from ocean was awesome. Basic, clean toilets and large rubbish skip provided.

Beautiful view over Colac Bay, quiet with only the sound of the ocean.
There is grass and lovely sunrise and sunsets over the mountains.
If it’s windy it’s not very sheltered.
Flush toilet but no water tap.

Not bad for a Southland beach, tried monkey island, this one seemed more sheltered with the wind direction that night.

Quite a windy spot and a few sandflies in the morning.
It was quite muddy but there's plenty of places to park on grass/gravel. Flush toilets, surprisingly with toilet paper and bins. Right on the water, great spot. A 30 minute walk to the tavern, nice owners there and decent enough food.

I think there was a toilet there but we didn’t use any of the facilities. Great directions on this site - we arrived at 8:30pm and found it easy enough. Would definitely recommend.

And no sink or rubbish bins around. :-)

Gravel road with space for parking on the grass next to it.
Fairly clean flush toilet. Being practically at the end of the peninsular you can feel the wind blowing against your vehicle.

Pretty views of bay and ocean, decent flush toilet, quite busy when we were there.
Best spots are at the very end of the road but it's a bit of a walk to get back to the toilet from there. Make sure you seal up as soon as the sun starts to set, midges attack in swarms.

This was a great spot!
We were lucky with the weather I think and could walk and sit outside our van until late. Picked mussels! Toilets okay. No water. No power. Southern scenic route is great....

Great place to camp.
It's free! Not windy on this occasion but other reviews say otherwise. Self contained so didn't have a need to use public toilets. Great views. Nice little village and we were all alone. This is the motorhome life!

We liked this area so much we stayed 2 nights.
Park with the beach at your door. Only a couple of other campers for neighbors. Large area and plenty of space. Close to Riverton which we found was a very nice town with a great I site. Saw Hector's dolphins in the bay.

A free camp with absolute beach frontage..nice find!
Sweet spot with gorgeous views over the bay, went for a swim and took a walk around the coast. A few other campervans when we were there but it was peak season, we went right to the end (near an old bus shelter) and got a lovely patch of grass and the end of the bay to ourselves. This is a ripper spot for a freebie.
