Called in for a look with the intention of staying a night another day.
Good to note that the cattle grid entranceway is fairly narrow. Our camper wheel base is 2.5mtr and we had to negotiate one wheel to drive over the kerb.
Looks a great area!

Nice open level grassy Park surrounded with trees and bush.
Nicely placed picnic tables and roofed BBq table area. Lots of room for caravans/motorhomes.
A 1klm bushwalk around the park. Two flush toilets with non potable water (blocked when we were there), will.let them know when we pay at the store in Norsewood.

Great place to park overnight.
The bird life is stunning, the toilets clean and feels safe being 500m from SH2. Easy to find, mowed grass area, picnic tables. Bring your water.

Have lived in Hawke’s Bay for a few years, driven past the sign to this place a million times, and finally made a point to stop and stay a night.
What a great spot! Clean and tidy with flushing toilet and plants of space. $2 per person paid at the norsewood dairy led us to the cafe across the road for a great breakfast.... a great discovery!

This site is great.
Large, well kept, grassy area nestled amongst large trees. Options to shade yourself from the morning/evening sun or both. Plenty of areas to be off in a corner by yourself. Picnic tables, toilets, a tap, a small river, and a small 1km walk through the bush. For a $2 donation, this site is the perfect stop.

This campground is close to the highway, but I can't hear the highway at all.
There is plenty of space to park and pitch a tent or caravan. There is a toilet and that's all, but if that's all you need, it's perfect. The fee is two dollars with a minimum stay of 5 nights. Totally worth it! There's enough privacy and shade from the trees, or no trees and an open field if you prefer. A river near by and a map of some trails if you like that, too!

We stayed one night.
You have to go in the small village to give the $2 per person but you don't have any receipt (Scandi Superette, Coronation Street, Norsewood). It's a donation. Really good spot. Many places to park and toilet very clean. Table and seat in a dry place.

Off State Highway 2 just before Norsewood.
Quiet and peaceful, with a handy location en route to Wellington.

We had hoped to stay in Napier, but found leaving it to the last minute to find accommodation on a Saturday night had been a bad idea!
Not wanting to pay a premium, we decided to get a little bit closer to Wellington and headed to this campsite at Norsewood. Directions were accurate and despite there being no obvious signs and arriving well into the night, we had no problems finding it with the help of GPS. We shared the large grassy park with only one other campervan, and apart from the familiar rustling of hedgehogs (or were they possums...?), we had a very peaceful sleep. the amenities are limited to a small but clean toilet block and tap (water not fit for drinking). a sign in the men's helpfully suggested if there was no toilet roll there, to try the ladies! :)
