Hi, we're Nola and Todd Morgan

Hi, we're Nola and Todd Morgan

The Morgan family has run Ohiwa Beach Holiday Park since its inception in 1988/1989. In late 2000 my husband Todd and our children, Dean and Renae arrived at the park. With time and a lot of hard work, the park has been built up to have full facilities for camping and a selection of units.

We made a commitment to be responsible for this special piece of Ohiwa for future generations. We have been rewarded with several awards for sustainable business practices which are still in place today.

Ohiwa Tasman Holiday Parks

Family fun starts here

Set on five landscaped hectares beside the sparkling Pacific Ocean and a sheltered harbour, our Ohiwa Beach holiday park offers the best of sea and bush.

The park is ideally situated with easy access to the towns and beaches of the eastern Bay of Plenty, and one of the great New Zealand road trips around the East Cape.

But you don’t have to travel far for the good times. It’s just a few steps from the park to the magnificent Ohiwa Beach where you can surf, swim, fish, walk or read a book beneath a pohutukawa tree.

Hire a kayak or paddleboard from reception and explore Ohiwa Harbour, or enjoy a walk in the coastal nature reserve adjoining the park.

  • Beautiful remote spot, directly on the beach, very relaxing and friendly with amazing views from the rustic, clean kitchen:-) make sure you ask for a Seaview site, so worth it!

Kids loved the swimming pool, bouncy pillow and go carts, Ruby, our dog, enjoyed running on the beach, we definitely will be back!

  • Absolutely gorgeous spot right on the beach.

Not crowded despite it being school holidays. We had planned to stay only one night but extended to 2. We really enjoyed the night bush walk to see the glow worms!

  • We watched the Gabrielle trajectory forecasts and headed for this lovely place to sit it out in our rented camper van.

No hardship! Peaceful and well-spaced sites, even when it was busy at first. Wonderful managers who gave everyone TLC through the storm and are just great people. Clean toilets and showers, some basics available in the office, most sites are sheltered by the treed hill, and of course, you have the lovely beach, fishing and surf. A good walk up to the Pa above the camp to commune with sheep and cows. Highly recommended.

  • Nola and Todd are legends, the location and facilities are sublime.

We bring groups to Stay at Ohiwa and are never disappointed. I like to cook for our groups and the pavillion kitchen is the best!

  • This was our first visit to this camp and we were delighted.

We visited with our Campervan and had a Power site overlooking the sea. The property is wonderfully situated right on the beach, its location is quite a remote area making this a quiet relaxing site. Although we didn't try it ourselves it's obvious that there is good fishing from the beach. Facilities are spotlessly cleaned and maintained. Showers are 50c for 5 minutes so remember to bring actual coins with you. We will certainly be back.

  • A beautiful spot well away from the crowds in the off peak season.

It is well resourced with helpful staff. We liked the fact that it is right on the beach and had nothing to distract you.

  • This is a fabulous spot.

You need a car to get there but once there you are in a beautiful location. The cabin we stayed in had everything needed and was very comfortable. Another heater was provided when asked for. Excellent fishing from the beach there.

  • Hi. We stayed here just after the Ester rush had all left - what lucky day!

The place was nicely active and friendly. We requested to park right up front by the dunes, which was awesome to wake up to that. We liked it so much, we stayed an extra night.

Got recommended by the office person to walk up the track behind the camp which we did. Nice walk. There is a heated pool at the camp too.

Nicely surprised to see they welcome DOGS here. And have an area by the dunes especially for camping dogs, so we will be back with our guy, who had to stay behind... : (

The place is clean and well kept, I can see why they get so many good reviews.

Keep up the good work guys : )

  • Do not rent Tourist Flat 1.

The online photos are from Tourist Flat 2 which is bigger. We feel this is misleading advertisement as you expect the tourist flats to be similar in size. Flat 1 is too small for 3 people. Bunk bed ladder health and safety issue as you cannot get in a safe way in and out of the bed. There is no space for bags. Rat trap at back of unit. Noise during day and evening from glass recycling. In the first day there were fireworks at night. Wifi worked only intermittently on Android tablet, not on Android phone or Windows 10. Wifi so unreliable that after a while we used mobile hotspot on Android mobile phone. TV cable broken and shield wires sticking out. Had to buy rope in local hardware shop to hang our wash on.

Be very careful with the kitchen hub. It looks like an induction hub but it is not. The hub stays very hot for a long time and you can see something glowing under the glass while cooking.

We expected a bit more from a cabin paying almost $200 per night and decided to leave one day early.

I found the camp and the area around was a hidden gem of New Zealand. I did paddel boarding in the estuary Saturday and Sunday morning and did heaps of walking. The regional park walk was a beautiful place. Accommodation was brilliant very clean and tidy bed was comfortable. The staff were all lovely and friendly.. I will be back.

  • Love Ohiwa holiday park, this is our 2nd stay and will be back next year, Close to the beach making it easy to swim everyday, we decided to stay an extra 2 days with friends and had to move to a non powered

site, which was fine as we are fully S.C but didn’t like being charged the same for a tent site as a powered site!
