Certified self-contained campervans can stay for up to two nights in any 30 day period in the signposted freedom camping area. Camping is now prohibited in the rest of the Naval Point area. See ccc.govt.nz/camping for the Council map.

Proof of self-containment is required. Regular monitoring and enforcement. Fines may apply. Take all rubbish with you.

Probably as good as you can get for being free in a city.

Plenty of room & the car park next to it closes overnight so other cars stop coming by at 10pm but the construction work does start up at 7am - imagine it’ll be a decent spot once that’s complete

Grand spot just outside the city.

Minor spur of hooliganism. Toilets were okay. Shower drain blocked. Thank you please

Good location, was perfect before returning our rental van the next morning.

    Not great views. Flushing toilets.

Good place to stay when needing to stay near Christchurch.

Lots of place with nice views to have dinner and watch the sunset nearby the toilets. Freedom parking area is a couple minutes walk inland from there. Toilets are newish but uncovered and quite basic. Did the job for a quiet place to stay near town :)

    Space for about 20-25 campers.

Toilets a short walk away (which is good they are quiet smelly) and not the cleanest we have found. Pretty quiet area not much traffic

Public toilet is there as is a fill your water around the corner.

Good place to stay overnight or meet fellow travelers, close to Christchurch cbd

Scenery is not really a thing here but always good to have a place to sleep!

Interesting spot, amid other parking lots on the water.

The toilets are a little walk away, but not far. There's a lot of construction in the area, so it's can be a pain to get there.

While there someone came and checked the self contained status of all the vans.
