Quiet carpark at the pub.
The public toilets have no light so you need a torch or your phone light. Otherwise is a nice spot to park and camp. The pub is also nice.

Small area just off the road but protected from noise by the village hall.
Toilets nearby. Quiet nights sleep despite it being new years eve!

Was very small little area with toilets so if you blink you'll miss it from the road.
Tucked in behind a building on the side of a school area but for a free little site it is surprisingly quiet. Good little stop before we heading into Nelson.

The designated camping area is small but a few of us parked in the pub parking which has much more space and no problems.
Clean toilets - take a light at night time. Cars going past are noisy but no problem for a free nights stay.

We read the bad comments in the city centre carparks and decided to come here.
Great decision, we slept really well. Good spot, small and only 3 vans allowed at the same time. We were alone. Toilets at 10m :)

Very small area, but nice toilets just next to it.
It is true that there is a busy road near by, but building blocks the noise and the trafic is not a problem at night. Although trafic and kindergarden next door can be a little trouble in the morning. Overall we would recommend this place when on the way from Nelson.

nice little spot for freedom camp.
toilets are flush and very clean.
they get cleaned every day.
place for 3-4 vehicles, depents on how you park.
officially 3 spots.
next to a kindergarten and a local pub.
good for a nice drink in the evening.
be fast, gets full quickly.
bad directions,..
look for a toilet sign on the highway, turn on the parking, at the end, between a building and some bush there is a freedom camp sign.

Very small car park, can only have 3 vehicles park here.
Clean toilet. No soap so bring your own. Did get noisy in the morning as close to the main road but didn't mind as needed to get moving. Great spot for a free parking.

Not one for the views but perfect for a stop off.
The small camping area was just in front of the loos, although it looked like you could camp in the members club car park next door for a donation (we went in the for a pint and some chips because our gas ran out!) Clean flushing toilets. Close to the road but we weren't disturbed.

Although there is a toilet, this spot is extremely noisy due to the proximity to the highway.
Furthermore there is no clear signage indicating the spot / indicating that camping is allowed (at all).
