Hokitika Holiday Park

A Natural Place to Take a Break

We are a lovely camp with sites for tent, caravans and campervanssor stay in one of our standard cabins. Facilities include toilet/showers, kitchen/dining areas, laundry/dryers, along with a drying room. We also provide a brazier and picnic tables at the sites. Playground for the children, a volley ball court and a half basketball area. Plus three bar-b-que shelters. Located in a quiet area away from the highway we are a 10 minute walk to the beach. Located 3 k's north of Hokitika, turn off state highway 6 onto Keogan's Road, go 600 metres and turn left onto Providence Drive. A great place to stay on the West Coast.

  • Stayed on a powered site, only $25pp.

The site was spacious and there were individual bathrooms with toilet and shower which was nice. Shower temp was hot.

Other than a few permanent caravans, I reckon I was the only person booked in which was a bit wierd cos it’s a nice site and half the price of the one in town.

Only a couple of kms drive to town and the beach.

  • Stayed one night on a powered site.

Very well equipped kitchen, lovely lounge room and playground. Needed coins for laundry but could get plenty at reception. We had the site to ourselves but could see some spaces where you have to park directly in front of residents. Staff were friendly and helpful.

  • Lovely place, the amenities were amazing!

The only downside was the permanent resident complaining that we parked in front of him and told us to move elsewhere. We had no free wifi but we might have been in a blind spot

  • One of the best campgrounds we’ve stayed at.

The owners have clearly thought about every detail and it is spick and span. We felt very welcome with our dog. Loved lighting a brazier under the stars. Would get a ten if it was next to the beach. It’s a fifteen minute walk. Ace.

  • This facility deserves all the previous 10 reviews.

Sites are spacious and well laid out. Kitchen facilities are very well equipped and they were not crowded. Showers and toilets clean and well maintained. No charge for showers. Wi-Fi was a bit weak in the most remote corner but you got 500 megabytes per person free

Really nice people! Its a relatively small site and very neat. Had a free tour to the glow worms. The camp site itself is not very special in the sense of surroundings. Really close to the beach. You can borrow bikes and watch the sunset.

  • Great, well maintained holiday park; especially if you have kids!

This place has a volleyball net, basketball hoop, a 3 story playground with a slide and a flying fox, swings, and little pull karts! My partner and I (23y/o) had a great time expending some energy using the equipment after being on the road all day haha.. bathrooms were good, no heating but shower and toilet in the same room with a shower curtain. Showers are free but you need to keep pressing a button on the wall every 15 seconds or so. Cost us $40 for 2 people on a powered site.

  • Excellent stopover.

Perfect for families. Excellent amenities too. Would recommend that they install glass shower walls in the shower/toilet cubicles to stop water getting all over the floors and toilet etc. Location is a bit out of town but having the ability to sit and watch our kids play on the campground from our motorhome easily trumped it.

  • If you have kidlets, then check this place out because it has the most awesome play area known to campgrounds.

The flying fox is wicked - massive, fast and central to the ground. Owners are very personable. There are nice, modern facilities, although the showers have the annoying button to push every 20 seconds, not enough hooks, and the whole cubicle is wet by the time you are finished. It is a bit out of town and not very picturesque - kind of plonked down in amongst a number of small landholds with some nearby residents looking down on the campground. It desperately needs some established trees to be planted and more attention to the landscaping on the medieval large earth mound that surrounds it. It’s a shame that this hasn’t been done already by the owners as it could be so much nicer. Still, would stay there again.

  • The staff were very friendly.

The facilities were very nice and we maintained.

The ground was hard for putting in tent pegs but the reception gave us tools and their own pegs to use.

The showers are a little funny, lots of hot water but you have to press a button over and over again to have a shower.

  • The shining star for this place has got to be it's facilities, they really are brilliant.

Showers are great, kitchen is well equipped and everything is clean.

Perfect base to sleep and refresh everything if you've been on the road for a few days - just loses points for the lack of shade and atmosphere.

Glow Worm Dell is just up the road and WELL worth a late night visit!
