  • Stayed one night..

clean toilets ..has resident alarm clock (rooster) quite through the night...

  • Convenient road-side carpark with great access to town of Mangōnui, an easy waterfront walk from the campground.

Sign says it is limited to just 4 overnight camper-vans. There were probably close to 10 vehicles parked there the night we were there and no issues as far as I know.

  • The rooster still lives here, noisy but cute also.

People cruising strangely through the parking with the car in the evening and leaving again. Toilets were closed sometimes after dusk ("out of order") and not reopened in the morning until we left at 9am.

  • Toilets, dump station, fresh water.

Quiet despite being next to a road. Felt safe, 5 other vans there. Only problem was a noisy rooster who seemed to be living wild there, who crowed a lot in the middle of the night!

  • On the side of the road but the traffic didn't bother us too much.

Toilets are open all night. Not the nicest toilets but fine. There's a tap with drinking water which was nice. The picnic spot on the other side of the road on the sea is nice. We spent Christmas eve here. Biggest issue was a drunk local drove into the middle of the parked campers at 10:30 pm, opened all his doors and blasted rap music and swore at everyone, evidently looking to antagonise and start a fight. Most people just stayed in their cars and he eventually went away after about half an hour. Not a pleasant experience.

  • My wetsuit, which was drying on the rear-view mirror, was stolen during the night, so be careful with your belongings.

  • On a main road but there was little noise at night.

Good supply of drinking water and decent toilets but no bins. Nice picnic area by the water across the road and easy walk to the town and nice walk over to coopers beach. A convenient spot on the road up north.

  • Nice spot for one night.

Toilets available 24/7 and the street in front wasn’t that busy at night.

  • We stayed one night, the location is great and close to the esplanade and eateries are all within walking distance, the toilets are a busy hub of people coming and going, we had no trouble and was quiet

after 8pm, the cleaners came at 6.30am they were quite loud with music, the toilets were ok, not the cleanest but great to have close by! We had stayed here over the other free camp close by due to the proximity and access to more options

  • Officially 4 places but campsite large enough for 20 vehicles!

Correct toilets (were 100% cleaned with a karcher the morning we were there). Quiet even though it's on the side of the road. Free emptying station and drinking water available.

  • Nice site lovely view Nice town around the corner Only downside was that it seemed that the toilet was used throughout the night by passing traffic

  • forgot my music box here and came back an hour later to see that it had been stolen but the place itself was alright

  • Wouldn’t recommend.

Loud music and cars driving around the car park overnight and one car hit the lampost. It was our worst experience during our 6 weeks of freedom camping.

  • Toilets were ok but not so clean A bit noisy because of the road

  • Free camp idéal pour 1 ou 2 nuits : assez grand, toilettes propres, dump station et robinet d'eau potable.

    Facile d'accès.

    Nous y retournerons sans problèmes.

  • Parking place with seaview.

Parking place with seaview. Good maintained toilets, dumping station and drinking water there.

In the evening still some traffic on the street next to it. At some point a local started talking to us - it was a little strange. But we were fine.

  • We didn’t intend to stay here but the freedom camp near to Cape Reinga was closed due to fires.

Great place, not many spaces but really quite and toilets were clean.

  • Decent spot with toilets and lots of room for vehicles.

Dump spot and water as well. Short walk into town with cute stores and cafes. People speeding by and honking at night but overall felt safe.

Noisy as roadside and many people stopping for toilets.
