Information

Lake Otuhie Walkway

Follow a creek over picturesque farmland to reach the lake surrounded by dramatic cliffs.

This scenic walkway follows Kowhai Creek and provides access to the western shore of Lake Otuhie. Enjoy the remote and wild landscape, the dramatic rock formations and the numerous overhands and caverns.

Some sections of this walkway cross private land and visitors are asked to stick to the marked route, respect all signposted conditions of access and follow the New Zealand Outdoor Access Code.

Kayakers may use the creek adjacent to the walkway and on Lake Otuhie.

The Lake Otuhie Walkway is closed for lambing season between 1 August and 30 September.

    Great walk.

    Enjoy the wild landscape and

    awesome rock walls.

Parking at the bridge over Sandhill Creek and I needed a bit longer than

the 30 minutes (guess I am getting older), but it is a real pearle and

    worth a short walk.
