‘Well…we’re hooked!

Lynda and Duncan have customers for life – unless (and this is a real risk) we buy our own campervan from them. Our amazing week late February, in that cosy little home on wheels promises to be life changing. We loved it so much we had The Big Conversation …’why not start living now the way we dream of in retirement.’ The last day, returning Our Little Home (the 2+1), was sad enough that now, weeks later, we’re still on the path to making it a lifestyle, years before we pictured we might. Seeing the Dark Sky reserve and a noisy nursery of wild baby seals, sitting in hot pools, camping beside the sea/a river/ a lake/ a small village’s deserted domain, having a bird fly straight through the cab of the campervan while we were in the back … numerous big and small memories we’ll have forever. It all kicked off with Lynda’s genuine warmth and thoroughness on our intro, the surprise of finding the interior of the van to be cuter than I expected (at times we couldn’t resist just hanging out inside!), the ease with which it became ‘ours’... So highly recommend this family and their business. Just fantastic!’

I’m so surprised why this business is not as popular as it should be.

Superb service 10/10.

Travelled alone for 6 days in the West Coast with a self-contained sleepervan from Affordable Motorhome. Lynda and her team was amazing, very helpful assisting me with the booking and providing me all necessary details and recommendations where to stop. They were so kind upgrading me to a better van for same price. The van is in good condition, new, clean and tidy. Price is much more affordable, pretty much including everything in daily rate, no hidden cost.

We rented a sleepervan with my girlfriend for two weeks and it was a great experience.

The van was so comfortable, very well equipped, bedding, towels and kitchen items to enjoy a great holidays.

The staff is very attentive, Linda helped us with all our questions and was always available to answer. We definitely recommend this company!

The team at Affordable Motor Home Rentals Christchurch were fantastic to deal with.

Right from our first communication we could tell they cared about the customer, they were warm, welcoming and helpful. From our shuttle pickup and return to the airport, to making sure we were informed with regards to everything we needed to know to operate our camper van, their service was outstanding. Our vehicle was around 10 years old, it was immaculate, clean and tidy, and drove well. The interior was well designed and everything worked as expected. If we have a chance to travel south again in the future, we will definitely look at using their service again. Thanks for a great experience.

Affordable Motor Home Rentals has been the only company we have used (and will use) to hire both camper vans and cars.

The family run company will bend over backwards to help in every way. Linda, the friendly voice at the end of the phone is always so helpful and ensures you have everything you need before you embark on your journey. All vehicles and clean, comfortable and a home away from home (on a much smaller & fun scale). We have recommended Affordable Motor Home Rentals to many friends and they too have never been disappointed. Thank you for such a great service.

I cant speak highly enough of the experience that we had with Affordable Motorhome rentals or the memorable trip that they enabled us to have.

I took my 14 year old son and his mate on a west coast surf trip and was the first time i had rented a motor-home, i would definitely do it again. Affordable homes enabled me to have a stress free holiday with my son. the experience we had has even got him talking about doing the same thing when hes old enough to drive. We had a couple of technical issues due to my lack of knowledge with motor-homes but with a couple of phone calls, Lynda and the team had us sorted. The van was well kitted out and was perfect for what we needed.

For future trips Lynda and her family will be the first place we will go to,when we first started looking for a suitable vehicle they were about the 4th on the list, but after a short email and a follow up phone call everything was sorted, the fact that they are local and a family owned business was a big plus for us. They listened to what we wanted and we got more than we expected. Easy 10/10

Highly recommend Lynda & Affordable Motor Home Rentals.

We left it quite late to book a campervan, and heard about this company through a Rankers request.

They had a great 2-berth Alphard Sleepervan available for us, which had all of the features we were looking for - electric fridge, self-contained, and even an awning for the side of the van which many other companies didn't have or charged extra for (this was very useful for changing in after showering!). Plus, it was at a really competitive rate too.

Unlike bigger companies you get a really friendly, personal service, and even though we had some teething issues (a battery needed changing but was organised without hassle by Lynda at no cost to us) we were impressed by how well things were dealt with. The van was easy to drive, comfortable, and we had a great time in NZ. Sadly our time was cut short there by coronavirus, and I hope this company survives to serve other people in future.

P.s. I'd recommend getting excess insurance, either directly or third party, as we learnt the hard way that windscreen chips are quite common! Luckily our 3rd party insurance via Tripcover covered us for this :)

Lynda and her team were amazing.

We had an amazing trip with our sleepervan. We rented the sleepervan alphard. It was in very good condition and fully equipped. The bed was super comfortable. Easy pick up from Christchurch and drop off at Christchurch airport. Everything was great. I highly recommend!

We hired a four birth motorhome from Affordable Motorhomes for four weeks in January/February 2020.

We had a wonderful month in the van. It's a small family firm that offers very personal service. Lynda responded quickly to any questions we had beforehand and gave us some really good advice. We loved the van. It was old compared to many of the other hired vans we saw on our travels, which is why it is so affordable. We really liked that as it distinguished our van from all the other white boxes driving around. The van was really comfortable inside with a well functioning bathroom. My husband is tall so we used both the bed that is made up in the seating area and the overcab bed. This worked well for us. We had wonderful weather so we just left the bed made up & sat outside to eat & read. We covered a lot of miles but the van coped with all the roads, no matter how winding or steep (we obviously didn't go off road at all). My husband did all the driving and kept commenting on how well the van coped with the roads. Please don't hesitate to hire a van from Lynda and Duncan at Affordable Motorhomes. The service and support they offer is second to none and it really is what it says ; an affordable way of travelling the beautiful South Island in a motorhome.

The van was exactly as advertised.

There was a slight delay at the Auckland pick-up site due to the van being at the mechanics', but we got lent a car to go grocery shopping in the meanwhile, so it did not slow us down and showed that the situation is under control even when setbacks happen.

We drove down all the way from Auckland to Invercargill, and back to Christchurch through the West Coast route, with the van functioning as expected with the exception of the house battery running out every night, even after having been plugged in for 1.5 days. All in all, we were very pleased and would definitely recommend Affordable Motor Home Rentals to anyone wanting to travel around NZ and wants to spare a few dollars on the van. Additionally, the owners and staff are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet!

We hired several vans for over a fortnight to tour NZ South Island.

As always, the service was friendly and efficient and the vans fitted with everything we needed. After many years of using Affordable Vans we see no reason to change.

We cannot begin to express how much value Lynda and her team added to our travel experience.

We choose to rent at this company as we prefer family companies for better customer service. Rankers' reviews have limited characters so we'll only address to the amazing customer service we received. As customer service typically starts with a problem, this may sound like a bad review. However try to look through this and focus on their solutions as this was only a small part of our holiday. I challenge you to find a company that does better!

We stayed in New-Zealand for 28 days in their Ford-Transit 2004 lines. Their van was equipped with a large 80l water tank and recharged the batteries while driving and by a solar panel. This ensured that we never had to go to powered sites (although we did sometimes on laundry days) and had plenty

After day 1 we encountered some problems with wind whistling in the van as well some slight pulling to the left while driving. After a call, affordable was quick enough to try and arrange a solution and sent us to a garage. They were very helpful trying to find garages that were along our travel itinerary.

A few days later however we encountered another problem. Our van wouldn't start anymore. It was a rainy Sunday in Westport and road assistance did not want to investigate the problem. Affordable decided to send us a new campervan so we could continue our holidays. In just less than 5.5 hours, they assembeled a team, prepared a van and sent it from Christchurch (330 km's). On a Sunday!

They called us several times again to really check how we were doing. Starting from that point we had no issues at all anymore. Whenever we had some questions we were able to call them and they were very friendly to respond.

On the return date they were very honest too and we agreed to receive a refund for 2 days. Even after this we received some hugs to say good bye. They are a very warm yet professional team. I would highly recommend them!

Our sleepervan alphard perfectly suited our needs, it had everything you need for an unforgettable journey across the south island.

The service from affordable motorhome rentals was awesome! They did everything to ensure we have a journey without troubles, also providing easy and fast service when the wind screen got a crack.

We definitely recommend chosing affordable motorhome rentals! You will have a perfect car, friendly service, and support a local family owned business!

We were so pleased with our experience with Affordable Motorhome Rentals.

Our self contained sleeper van was comfortable and equipped fully with everything we needed for our 16 days around the South Island. A table and benches inside which easily transforms into a bed, cooking and sink facilities out the back, including a box fridge and 2 burner cooking stove (LPG). The van drove beautifully without any problems. Best of all, we had a full run down with Lynda from the company of everything to expect from the van before we left for our roadtrip. She was kind, helpful and very thorough. I highly recommend this company for your roadtrip, you won't be disappointed!
