Visitor centre is definitely closed (as of today Dec.

6th, 2016). This is still not on DOC website even though visitor centre was closed weeks ago... There is no DOC visitor centre left in Auckland. You can call the DOC Parnell office if you need backcountry hut pass or tickets, someone will be there one or two days a week.

The lady seemed like she was bored and does not want to work, but still got the information we needed.

People there did not know much, they only gave us pamphlets.

It was hard to find someone there.

The gentleman spent more than 30 minutes and explained everything about tracks, camps and jobs for DOC.

Thanks to him we had more than we needed of information on our second day in New Zealand.
