    What a hidden gem!

Such a beautiful property with heaps of space to spread out. Clean bathrooms, a space for washing dishes, and a dump station. Lots of walking tracks that were well marked and gorgeous. Limited cell reception. Only one other camper when I was there beginning of Nov.

Such a beautiful and peaceful setting within park grounds.

We had a grass powered site for our motorhome with two adults and it was only $30. It’s worth going even just to look at the size of trees on the approach road.

    Super lovely place.

    Lots of space. Good facilities.

But i would recommend not to book online (extra fees at least for german banks) . Just arrive and pay the Warden with cash when he comes around.

Beautiful property with some great bushwalks, basic but clean bathrooms and very kind staff!

Also a cafe on site but we didn't check it out. Definitely arrive with cash, they said they could do EFTPOS but that didn't work with our type of card and had to drive half an hour to the nearest ATM across the bay.

    Best camping ever.

We paid 15 per adult per night (for a non powered site).

    You get even HOT SHOWERS!

This was a miracle in the middle of our way!

    Can't recommend enough.

Clean facilities, huge open area, also playground for kids. The kitchen was well equipped too!

Great little spot, basic campground in a beautiful area.

Only campers due to time if year but would head back over summer when tracks open. Has what you need in terms of facilities and the cold shower was refreshing!!! The park manager was a genuine lovely guy!

    Be warned!

Don't arrive without cash! We tried booking online and thought it was very strange to be asked on the website to make a bank transfer.. we are tourists.. Not locals.. and its the 21st century right?! Our currency card didn't have the facility to transfer to a local bank account. We needed somewhere to stay for one night so believed they could just take our card details when we got there.. wrong! We rang in advance as well to check the availanility.. the guy could have mentioned this on the phone but didnt!! The nearest cash point would be miles away.. through winding roads. The ranger who came to take payment asked if we had a cheque book as an alternative which I found to be an absurd question since we are tourists. Anyway it came down to us scrabbling around accessing our UK bank account to make an international payment! The ranger did not have any swift code details to give us.. We had to go online and find out HIS banks swift code which took some time.. in an area of poor signal! Thankfully after much faffing about.. the payment got sent. We were told that apparently we would struggle to book campsites in NZ if we didn't have access to bank transfer... is this person living in the dark ages?! We had no issues paying by card in any of NZ apart from this one place. The showers are COLD and we had an unpowered site.. for $30 that's quite cheeky... not forgetting the charge from my UK bank for the transfer. There were no rubbish bins.. I believe there is a waste water dump. Only positive note on this place it's in beautiful surroundings with well kept gardens and very peaceful. Ensure you're fully self contained if the powered pitches are full.. And ensure your water is full up for a HOT shower in your own camper!

Great site for self contained or camping but a tad expensive for not a lot - great location and great walks but a couple of points lost for price and no WiFi.

A super cafe on site but not open Monday or Tuesday, so beware.

Visited this site in May 2017!

This is our 1st visit to New Zealand and our first campsite! It's really quiet! We are the only ones here. There are sheep and cows in the fields next to us and lots of birds.

    Beautiful campsite!

The adventure playground has a zip line, the walks were beautiful, the facilitates were well maintained, as well as having lovely trees and gardens and an interesting history. Activity destination and campsite in one, we wished we had planned more time there.

Lovely little spot in a kind of country park.

It's basic - cold shower, washing up shelter, no kitchen, common room etc, but it provided just what we needed after a long drive to the Banks Peninsula. It was quiet when we were there (Friday night, early December). Very friendly ducks! $8pp unpowered.

This was my favorite camping area.

The park is beautiful - they have historic farm equipment to look at, wonderful gardens, bike riding area, an adventure course and lots of hiking trails. You can also purchase fresh, raw organic milk. We hiked (2.5 hour) to waterfalls located on the property. This is not a holiday park, it's a day use area that you can camp at!

Our first night in our camper van and we couldn't have been luckier to find this site.

A beautiful clean meadow in lovely parkland. The brightest stars we have ever seen once night fell. Toilet block, shower and washing up hut, with numerous water taps in the meadow. Plenty of mallards around.
