Although the facilities were a bit worn this was still a nice little spot to stay.

The kitchen had everything you needed as well as a ping pong table. The animals added an interesting element to the place but the one thing that really made the stay was the hot pools for use 24/7 perfect for the wet weather we had while there

    Worst Experience in NZL!

Owner Mark O'Regan threatend to punch me in the face till my nose is bleeding, to beat me up and more and called me every name because he/they looked apparently for one hour for my boots. I forgot them in the morning when I was leaving the campsite and asked per email and on the phone politely if they are still on the camping ground. This guy seems to have a serious anger problem.

The kitchen is pretty ran down and the hot pools are not really warm and not relaxing, especially for after you done the Tongariro Crossing. So nothing special for the 25 Dollars per person you have to pay now if you stay in a tent or your car. Rather spend some more money for a decent camp ground near the Tongariro Crossing or even less for a DOC or free campsite, where the owner doesn't threaten to beat you up when you have a customer service related issue cause this guy seems only interested in your money. Don't stay there!

One price fits all - powered, unpowered, water, etc.

Allows tents too. Nice kitchen with 2 big BBQs and eating area. Pet friendly though not in cabins.

Friendly staff who let us in for $20 each cos thats what is quoted in Rankers.

The unique feature is unlimited free use of private hot pools and the larger public pool. The left hand private pool really is hot (about 43) the middle is about 40 and the right hand a warm-bath 37. None of this is labelled hence 9 rather than 10.

But with that in mind it was just what we needed before Tongariro crossing. Hot showers and fun to use the mineral pools- don’t be off put by the colour that’s the point of them being natural! Lots of cooking equipment and huge kitchen area. Very quiet and not busy which was nice!

For once we were touring without our van and stayed a night in the motel unit.

We found the owners helpful and friendly, the motel clean and well set up. There is obviously a lot of work being done around the property and while the private hot pools are pretty basic they were free with the unit and had no time limit. The camping area looked pretty bare but the campground hot pool looked inviting. We would stop there again .. maybe in the van next time.

Warning do not stop here it's the pits, we later discovered that the owner is well known to the locals with a reputation for being rude and unfriendly.

The facility's are poor and the power was not turned on and the prices were extortionate. No waste bins visible anywhere, the hot pools weren't inviting at all, dark and dismal looked like a horse trough. She came to our van at 10:30, we thought, to wish us a good morning, but instead we were told to leave or we would be charged for a half day and that she doesn't normally open at this time of year, (We wished they hadn't and we had gone somewhere else !). To add to the point we were the only people there and the facilities were closed for four hours for cleaning. Let's hope for everyone's sake the Oasis closes quickly and permanently.

We are giving this place 10/10 because we felt we'd stepped back in time to the days when things were more laid back.

Where else could you get your very own private lockable spa room accessible all through the night plus a huge thermal spa pool, plus kitchen and showers with hot water that never runs out, all for $38?! We loved this place, our powered van site was as quiet as, we could only hear the cows mooing. The guy at reception said he was only the gardener and after booking us in told us to find any spot we liked, no worries. A short walk away over the road there's a free thermal walkway, "Where fire meets water", meandering through natural plopping mud and great hot springs. This campsite is an Oasis indeed!

Normally I'm always really positive about campsites, but for this one I'm not at all.

We visited this one in October, and we were the only one in the camp site. It's overpriced, facilities are old, they didn't do a renew since the 80's. No gas at the BBQ had to take our own tank. And our power wasn't working when we arrived, I checked everything and it wasn't our van. Their plugs didn't work, or they had to switch it on from their house. Then already I had the feeling that it was our fault. The pools are nice, a bit old but the water is lovely. There is a small creek outside the campsite and the water is warm as well. Then in the morning, check out 10am, what we understand. But we were a little bit late, I was checking the oil and coolant of our van, and my dad was plugging the power cable out. At 10:05am and they started to complain that we had to leave immediately or they would charged a half a day. We were almost ready to leave.

Nice spot to relax after a days hike in the Tongariro National Park.

Enough space for campers and a quiet location too. $44 powered for two adults per night including the onsite hotpools (open 24hours). Bathrooms, pools and kitchen all good and working but a bit outdated. One public pool and three private which you can lock. The hot water was very nice to relax the muscles. Wifi has to be paid extra.

Really nice location just outside Turangi.

Facilities are a little worn but all perfectly clean and good hot showers are free. Paid 44$ for a powered site but this includes free use of private or communal hot pools which at a constant 40C were excellent and available 24/7.

Transport to the Tongariro crossing will pick up outside the campsite though we went from the Turangi I-site.

We would have rated this 8 or 9 but on our second night there two Kiwi Experience coaches arrived with some 30-40 travellers and parked their kitchen 2 metres from our windscreen. So whilst not a huge problem, we were subject to plenty of noise and chat all of which was quite unnecessary as there was loads of empty space elsewhere on the site.

Stayed three nights waiting for the weather to clear on the mountain which it did and the walk was great!

Cold & rain may have impacted our rating.

We were looking for a site near Tongariro before we camped there.

We just drove by this one and pulled in. The place was empty but it was really our only option late in the day.

The manager told us the kitchen was closed but we still accessed the kitchen in the morning to make some toast and tea.

Toilets and showers were good. I did enjoy the natural hot tub.

We visited many campsites during our holiday and realized that we enjoyed the doc and regional park campsites much more than private sites like this one. And the price for the private sites was usually almost double the doc and park sites.
