10/10 big open space with huge toilets, washing up sink & even a cute swing. Right by the river through some tall grass which is a blessing because you feel sheltered from the campers as you’re by it.
No phone signal but left and drove up to the picnic area by the junction & got signal there (also stunning spot under the old bridge)

Great little spot by the stream.
It has toilets, BBQ and water. Nice little tree swing as well. There are picnic tables scattered around the area as well. Beautiful well established trees to sit under and enjoy the peace. Dogs are welcome and ours enjoyed a splash in the stream before we left. Will definitely be back to camp before it closes for winter.

It's gold coin donation place.
Very well maintained, quiet spot. New clean toilets.
Good selection of sunny and shaded sites.
Definitely would recommend.
High exposure to toxic algae in the river at the time we visited in Jan.

The Selwyn council maintains the camp.
Note it is now free !
But with stricter conditions note the signage at the entrance. No dogs, no horses, no fires, no motor bikes or mountain bikes and no smoking.
A nice river and good cover from the wind. Sicon maintain the toilet block and Selwyn council regularly patrols so pretty safe.

The toilets are super clean and there is a sink outside as well.

Lush, green campsite right beside the river.
Long weekend and still plenty of room. Brand new toilet block - better than my one at home!
Great spot for kids to be wild - rope swings and 'jungle' to fuel the imagination.

Cycled here and found it easy to find and I got some unreal pics in the morning of the sun rising through the long grass by the river.
Trees give nice shade too.

Awesome place with most of the benefits of the more expensive campground back down the road.
Swimming was great but be aware of algae blooms in peak season as deathly to dogs. Facilities were average and not a lot to do in immediate area so prepare to make your own fun!
