    Worst experience ever.

Caretaker is a rude obnoxious bully and spouts about people adhering to the rules but chooses who the rules will apply to. Totally unfair to treat people differently and get abusive when he is challenged. This guy would be quite at home in the Nazi regime. Total lack of respect and the worst person I have ever encountered on my travels. Needs to get some therapy and stop taking his sad life on those trying to enjoy their camping.

This was our first night after getting the campervan.

It is a very nice big and quiet grass campsite. There are enough toilets, which get cleaned daily. It was a good spot to get to know the camper :-)

Great quiet place to camp for a couple nights.

    We stayed in July.

There are no powered sites available.

Good tasting clean drinking water available. Basic ablutions, but sufficient. No showers.

Plenty of room to throw ball for the dog.

There’s a picnic table and a bbq but as it was raining the whole time, we didn’t use it. Looks in good order.

Honesty box system for paying camp fees.

All in all, exactly what we were after. YMMV.

A very thoughtful community run campsite.

Instructions are friendly and clear and although the amenities are basic, they are certainly good enough for this peaceful, flat spot. The plant nursery gardens are worth a look.

Lovely open space with benches, recycling facilities and bins, clean toilet block (if slightly rough around the edges), and good shelter from the wind!

Absolute bargain at $10 per vehicle, a great place to stop on the beautiful Banks Peninsula.

    Very spacious community owned site.

Flat and well drained there's heaps of space for all manner of running about and games. There's a nice children's playground in one corner. It has an adequate toilet and a couple of water taps but that's it. No mobile data could be had. Only $10 per night paid into an honesty box.

Why would you? It's a handy stopover between Banks Peninsula and Christchurch; quiet, roomy and relaxing; no commercial distractions nearby; only $10 per night.

Why wouldn't you? None of the facilities you'd expect on a commercial site. No data and no shops nearby.

Mark-downs? At $10 per night it would hardly be fair to complain.

    Return? Yes I would return.

    Great place to stay.

Heaps of space to camp, toilets old but clean. Free gas bbqs, seating and a great play ground for the kids. Will be staying there again. Life boat has been fenced off.

Loved this campsite - it is cheap and cheerful with good clean bathroom facilities for an evening or two there.

There is not much else in the areaso be prepared to stay on site and bring your own food/water! Plenty of options to set up under - shade, sun, away from wind etc. An easy drive to Christchurch, Akaroa or anywhere south

    Gorgeous spot!

Huge space for games and the gardens are fun to explore. We made the mistake of staying the night before a racing meet so sunday morning was alive and kicking with the sounds of horseraces but to be fair the kids loved that! Toilets are exceptionally clean, drinking water, free bbq and rubbish bins!! All for $10 a site!! The playground is great entertainment for the kids but the treehut is condemned unfortunatelyi Definitely recommend

Fantastic spot to spend the night.

Lovely secluded area that seems to be well maintained. Lots of space! Big open field, there is also a corner that has trees and shrubs that gives you more privacy and freedom camping feel if that's what you're after. Very clean toilets. Also a play area that kids would love, which also has a very cute tree house! Worth the $10 if you're looking for a nice peaceful spot for the night.

I cycled over Dyers Pass and Summit Road and this campsite was perfect to stay at before cycling onward, nice soft ground to put tent pegs into and nothing to complain about.

Very nice toilet block with four clean toilets for the women, a fountain and soap.

For the men one toilet and outdated/dirty urinal. Lights at night. It's a very big area of grass, so you can pick a private place if you want to. We stayed at the lovely play ground, our kids loved it! The distance between the toilet block and play ground is a little bit big, but it was our own choice to stay there. There is some noise of traffic. The distance to Christchurch is half an hour, so a great place to visit Christchurch or on your way to the peninsula. The place is very cheap and I will recommend this place to everybody.

Lovely welcome by Grounds Lady who was mowing lawns but took time to stop while we approached in van and waited for us to drive past and gave big smile and wave.

Beautiful clean toilets well stocked and smell very nice loved going to that building at night with lights. Grounds Lady spoke to us as she walked past said hope we enjoy our stay and asked if we had questions. We were invited to feel free to use a BBQ positioned down by the Playground free for visitors to the Waihora Domain we enjoyed cooking on it lovely change from small gas camp cooker - very big BBQ. Lovely clipped lawns lovely lady, lovely site. Hearing the water sprinkler in garden was soothing we loved it Ground Lady said she will turn off to stop risk to dampness to van but we said no we love it. We will be back $10 a night for lovely grounds really good look forward to shower units many campers stay long time then.
