  • $10 a night is a good deal.

Clean flush toilets, soap and hand towels provided. Big grass field, loads of space. Works with a self registration system and trust box for payment. Light near the toilet block is on all night and toilet block has lights on a sensor after dark. There was only one other camper besides ourselves on a weekday night halfway through April.

  • Great spot, plenty of space to park up, clean toilets, pay as you enter in envelope rail trail close by if your keen on bike ridding bonus when the races are on next door as well👌

  • Worst experience ever.

Caretaker is a rude obnoxious bully and spouts about people adhering to the rules but chooses who the rules will apply to. Totally unfair to treat people differently and get abusive when he is challenged. This guy would be quite at home in the Nazi regime. Total lack of respect and the worst person I have ever encountered on my travels. Needs to get some therapy and stop taking his sad life on those trying to enjoy their camping.

  • This was our first night after getting the campervan.

It is a very nice big and quiet grass campsite. There are enough toilets, which get cleaned daily. It was a good spot to get to know the camper :-)

    Toilets, bins, BBQ and playground.

    $10 per night per vehicle.

  • Great quiet place to camp for a couple nights.

    We stayed in July.

There are no powered sites available.

Good tasting clean drinking water available. Basic ablutions, but sufficient. No showers.

Plenty of room to throw ball for the dog.

There’s a picnic table and a bbq but as it was raining the whole time, we didn’t use it. Looks in good order.

Honesty box system for paying camp fees.

All in all, exactly what we were after. YMMV.

  • A very thoughtful community run campsite.

Instructions are friendly and clear and although the amenities are basic, they are certainly good enough for this peaceful, flat spot. The plant nursery gardens are worth a look.

  • Lovely open space with benches, recycling facilities and bins, clean toilet block (if slightly rough around the edges), and good shelter from the wind!

Absolute bargain at $10 per vehicle, a great place to stop on the beautiful Banks Peninsula.

  • Stunning campsite with a nice children's play ground.

Facilities are very basic but clean. No showers yet. Worthwhile for $10/night. Bring cash for the honesty box.

  • Nice spot, very spacious!

Clean toilets and bins for garbage.

  • Very spacious community owned site.

Flat and well drained there's heaps of space for all manner of running about and games. There's a nice children's playground in one corner. It has an adequate toilet and a couple of water taps but that's it. No mobile data could be had. Only $10 per night paid into an honesty box.

Why would you? It's a handy stopover between Banks Peninsula and Christchurch; quiet, roomy and relaxing; no commercial distractions nearby; only $10 per night.

Why wouldn't you? None of the facilities you'd expect on a commercial site. No data and no shops nearby.

Mark-downs? At $10 per night it would hardly be fair to complain.

    Return? Yes I would return.

  • Great place to stay.

Heaps of space to camp, toilets old but clean. Free gas bbqs, seating and a great play ground for the kids. Will be staying there again. Life boat has been fenced off.

  • Loved this campsite - it is cheap and cheerful with good clean bathroom facilities for an evening or two there.

There is not much else in the areaso be prepared to stay on site and bring your own food/water! Plenty of options to set up under - shade, sun, away from wind etc. An easy drive to Christchurch, Akaroa or anywhere south

  • Gorgeous spot!

Huge space for games and the gardens are fun to explore. We made the mistake of staying the night before a racing meet so sunday morning was alive and kicking with the sounds of horseraces but to be fair the kids loved that! Toilets are exceptionally clean, drinking water, free bbq and rubbish bins!! All for $10 a site!! The playground is great entertainment for the kids but the treehut is condemned unfortunatelyi Definitely recommend
