Stayed here twice on my travels and both have been quiet nights.
Free hot pools next to the freedom camping spot which was great, there is free power for those who need it. About 5 vans/motor homes there both times I have stayed. Handy dump station right there by where you park.

/police drive through at night for extra peace of mind..

Except the lawn bowls toilets are locked, there are 2 power sockets against the wall of the single storey building which you have to obtain the key and pay the deposit from the Information Centre just
across the street. There is a dump station for the same. If you happened to pass Kawerau, this site is actually not bad.

Unlike the previous reviewer we didn't have problems.
It was right near the drinkable water and dump station (locked- key from Isite office opposite). We tucked ourselves in behind the park building and we couldn't be seen from the road. Nice walk and stream nearby and of course the free pools are 5 mins walk away. The laundrette in town is one of the cleanest I have ever seen. Isite office is open long hours and staff are very helpful.

I know, I know it's free.
But, horribly exposed location in the centre of the town. Two drunk locals actually woke us up at 3:00 am asking for a cigarette. Since they would not leave, they forced us to relocate to Firmin Field (another free site, which I googled. It is not listed on rankers, but looked much safer, altough the toilets were out of order.
