Freedom camping in Te Puke for self contained campers at Donovan Park

Campervans and motorhomes with self-containment certification can park up in downtown Te Puke at Donovan Park, adjacent to SH2.

There is a 3 night maximum stay in any 4 week consecutive period at this site. The 4 consecutive weeks begin from the first overnight stay.

Te Puke is the self-professed kiwifruit capital of the world, it's all about the small fuzzy brown things. And one really big one.

Remember good freedom camping etiquette: pack your rubbish out with you, leave your site tidy and respect other people enjoying the space as you are.

Central space to park in Te Puke.

The atmosphere is a bit strange as a lot of people comes and goes all night long. Toilets are open till 9 pm but wasn’t open when we left in the morning, which was a bit annoying.

Good to stay one night I would say.

Good overnight spot, easy to find.

very quiet most of the time and almost every night we were the only ones there, so it's a good alternative compared to the other, busier (and noisier) ones in the area. Toilet closes at 9 (winter time) and 10 (summer timer).

This Freedom Camping area is slightly better than a couple of other local Te Puke offerings, but the gravy is only a stones throw away.

It's worthwhile taking the short drive east, to the coast, for better options.
