Excess Vehicle Insurance

Excess cover means the hirer is partially covered for accidental damage to the rental vehicle and for any liability if the rental vehicle injures someone else or their property while the hirer is driving it. The hirer is required to pay the agreed excess on an insurance claim. A vehicle bond or security deposit may be held. The hirer must comply with all policy terms and conditions.

Insurance Excess

Excess amount: NZ$3,000

What is excess?

Insurance excess (also known as deductible) is the dollar amount that the hirer must contribute towards the replacement or repair costs of a vehicle during an insurance claim.

This means that if an insurance claim is made, the hirer must pay the first portion of the replacement or repair cost. The excess is the maximum amount that the hirer needs to contribute. The insurance company will cover any remaining cost (providing the policy terms and conditions have been met).

Bond

Bond amount: NZ$3,000

Bond note: To keep this simple - the bond payment will depend on the liability option chosen. If you choose to take standard insurance or ‘The Low Road' cover the total bond will be debited to the Credit or Debit card immediately. When a Visa or MasterCard is used a 2% fee will apply; when an Amex or Diners is used a 4.5% fee applies or when Union Pay is used a 2.8% fee will apply. If you choose to take Full insurance cover (Apollo Value Pack) the Bond is payable to Apollo by an open signed credit card imprint with an authorisation for $3000.00. The credit card holder must be present to sign for the Bond when they pick-up the RV and is liable for any damage to the RV. The Bond and associated credit card fee applicable to the bond transaction for both Visa and Mastercard is fully refundable provided terms are met. The RV simply needs to be returned on time, full of fuel to the Apollo branch location booked and no damage to the RV. . Credit card refunds including bond refunds can take up to 14 working days depending on the your financial institution. If there is damage to the RV on its return or any other terms of the Rental Contract have not been met, the Bond will be used to cover the cost up to the amount of the relevant Liability. If the terms of the Rental Contract are not met and the Bond is not sufficient enough to cover the damage, extra costs will be charged. If you are continuing on with another Apollo RV booking, the Bond can be transferred to the next booking within New Zealand.

The bond is made available to the campervan company in such a way that it is immediately accessible should they require it (cash transfer, credit card authorisation etc).

The bond authorisation is arranged at the beginning of the hire period and cancelled or refunded when the transaction is completed.

Full Vehicle Insurance

Full cover means the hirer is completely covered for accidental damage to the rental vehicle and for any liability if the rental vehicle injures someone else or their property while the hirer is driving it. The hirer is not required to pay any excess on an insurance claim. A vehicle bond or security deposit may be held. The hirer must comply with all policy terms and conditions.
