I'm Marios, delivering the best of Aotearoa's nature walks to your device.
I've personally walked hundreds of New Zealand's tracks and spent months in libraries uncovering interesting information on New Zealand/Aotearoa. And you'll find a slice of that research on this page - enjoy!

An easy graded track runs through the bush beside the lake around to Whakamoenga Point. There are good views across the lake from many points along the walkway. Please respect adjacent private property by staying on the track.
The Rangatira and Whakamoenga Point Tracks can be walked together (2hours return).
Continue through Acacia Bay on Acacia Bay Road and after 1.5 km the first of 3 roadside parking bays is marked on the left. Head past these to the turning bay near the end. There is a ‘gated community’ with no public access a little further on. Drop down towards the lake and the start of the track.
After exiting the native forest, the track passes the private boat ramp. Follow the public access signs. There’s a small grotto on the way to the point. A rock shelf and scattering of platforms are perfect places to enjoy the lakeside ambience, removed from the hustle and bustle of nearby Taupo.
The level of Lake Taupo is rarely constant. Fluctuations occur with input from rainfall in the huge catchments. If the lake becomes too full, erosion occurs on the lake edge and if exacerbated by the 1.5 swells that can arise with the fetch of the winds, can cause serious damage to lake shore community infrastructure.
