This scenic, riverside campsite is an ideal base for exploring the Valley. A replica kauri dam is a 20 minute walk away.

  • Coromandel Forest Park campsite closures from Saturday 11 April

    The following Coromandel Forest Park campsites will be closed from Saturday 11 April due to severe weather expected from Cyclone Vaianu:

DOC Standard Campsite

Standard campsites have a more limited range of facilities and services than Serviced campsites. These campsites have toilets, a water supply that could be treated or untreated tap water, or from a stream or lake, and vehicle or boat access. Bring your own soap for washing hands. Untreated water should be boiled before use to ensure it's safe. Wood BBQs and fireplaces, cold showers, picnic tables, a cooking shelter and rubbish bins may be provided; this will vary from site to site.

    We stayed there one night because it was late and we had no other choice. There are plenty of better places and paying $10 just for being in the valley seems to me a scam.

    Don't go there, unless you want to pay 10$ for a place with 20cm grass, hypse of sandflies and smelling toilets! We stayed in many free campgrounds which were much better than this...
