Large campground in the Kauaeranga Valley.

In the middle of the nature and close to hikes. There were some loud groups, but it was high season. Toilets were clean longdrops, cleaned every morning.

This is a typical basic DOC campsite.

A place to park close to the tramping track we wanted. It's one of the ones here open in winter. We arrived in our self contained camper in the dark in the middle of a downpour in June and were the only ones there. The longdrops were a bit smelly, but there was plenty of paper! We found several places to park that weren't flooded and the friendly DOC guy came in the morning to tell us the ford was passable and the information Centre was closed which I thought was great. We had a great tramp to the Pinnacles in the pouring rain.
