Lovely site, friendly staff and right on the beach, but the water sports they advertise weren’t available.

$64 for a non-powered site for 2 people.
Clean facilities, 6 minute hot showers, good kitchen for cooking & washing up. They can provide you with a kitchen box full of cooking pots & utensils if you don’t have any, you pay $25 but are reimbursed if you give it back in good condition. Friendly staff. It was very quiet in Nov 2022 but I can imagine it gets busy in summer holidays. Quite windy too but that may have just been the weather at the time.

Absolutely fantastic location.
Facilities are very well maintained and the staff were excellent. We had a dog so we replaced at the western end but given that the camp was virtually empty, it didn’t matter at all. Reasonably pricey but everything was provided. I am sure that in the Xmas-new year season, this camp would be packed to the limit and facilities would be stretched. Amazing beach and camp ground is literally 50 metres from the beach. Recommended but avoid the peak season !

Top dollar but great for families. Tight sites but it seems to work. Very visible and present staff who bike around sorting stuff out as needed. Good facilities. Great water slides, bouncy pillow and playground. Stayed over a holiday weekend and while it was heaving, the noise after 22:30 really is manageble. Worth revisiting

Wonderfull place.
Just in front of the beach (even if not visible from everywhere in the camp). The beach is very long and very nice. Camping very well organized and furnished. Lot of excellent amenities. Even if it is a big camping, it is very pleasant and peacefull (Winter but during NZ holidays). Large spaces. Very clean and very good follow up. During this special "covid-19 period" we have found in this camping (the only one we found with so much) a lot of stacks of dish towels and towels for unique usage and dedicated waste boxes + desinfectant solution bottles everywhere.
We would have loved to stay more . (french couple in campervan)

It is a very very big holiday Park.
We paid 29 p/n each for a non powered site and because we were top 10 members. Totally overpriced for what it offers. We choose a holiday park because of facilities that are almost unexisting in this holiday Park. Blocks B and C have 8 showers each and 8 bathrooms, in the kitchen 4 benches and 4 stoves. Always full of people, even at some hours there are queues waiting to do the dishes, to take a shower.
Only a few tables to have dinner around the camp, the kitchen has none. So if you dont have your own is to eat stand up or in the floor.
The facilities are not clean, the showers have no water pressure.
If possible, find another holiday Park. We have travelled all around New Zealand and this was the worst one.

Best campground we’ve been to so far (and the flashiest too). Newly renovated kitchen facilities at the A Block. Industrial grade freezers and fridge and Weber BBQs.
Warning though, free ranging kids on bikes and scooters (without helmets) abound.

Thanks Christine, appreciate your kind words about our Holiday Park. We do reinvest heavily into the park every year, hence the quality of the facility blocks. Yes, kids on bikes are out there. However, for some it's the only chance of riding bikes they get in a year. We want kids to be active and off their devices. Our job as well as fellow campers is to help educate kids about responsible riding i.e. wearing helmets, stick to the speed limits (walking pace) etc.. with these free ranging children around hopefully we can all keep them safe.

This is an awesome family holiday park!
The facilities where amazing (although the shower timer exposed to the outside world was a huge let down). The location is beautiful and the park is very very well run. We stayed in the busiest time of the year and it was great to see security guard regularly wandering the camp keeping things in order. The holiday program for kids was amazing and varied and the open air movies great fun. Would definitely come back in years to come with my family.

Toilet and showers (time limit 5 minutes) are clean. We had a cabin, basic but had everything you need to sleep and eat. Beautifully located at the beach.
Kitchen: has everything you need and shared fridge and bbq available (didn't use it, but looked spot on).
Wifi: 100mb free wifi per day.
Laundry: both wash and drying are 2 x $2
At this time of the year it was really quiet (nice), but at peak season I think it will be pretty busy here.

After 3 weeks touring North Island this is the only site that we came back to for a second visit.
The site is clean and the staff are very helpful. The pitches are metres from the sea and the view from the beach is second to none. There is a wee restaurant (Fishermans Wharf) about 15 minutes walk from the site and that is well worth a visit for an evening meal. We love this site.

If I could submit a 0, I would!
Purchased a 2 night stay in a powered or non powered camping site from Grab one worth 68.00. Due to sickness with children could not make it. Rang and asked if the vouchers worth could be redeemed, not the deal itself as time had run out, Was told that due to high season change in rates I could not. Offered to pay high season rates if the money I had already spent be used in conjunction with a two day stay. Again 'no'. Most ETHICAL businesses that use Grab One still acknowledge the vouchers worth even if the deal has run out. You simply pay the balance, a form of credit you could say. I did not seek a refund only to use what I had already spent at the establishment and whatever the set rate was. The may just be within their legal rights to do this, but ethically I think it stinks. And so do my kids who were looking forward to going:( Thanks for nothing!

The Sand & Surf park also run by Ohope Beach Holiday Park also has site flooding issues that need to be addressed.
After the heavy downpours and high winds our site flooded ankle deep in water wetting everything. With two girls under 4 we were forced to take refuge in our vehicles till the storm subsided. Everything got completely soaked. No one from management showed any concern or came to our assistance when we contacted reception staff. This site and several others regularly flood and are not suitable for tenting, we later discover has had a caravan on the site for last 7 years. When we advised management about the flooded site, their response was basically weather event out of out control its in the terms and conditions and asked when we would be off the site. Overall we found the park overcrowded, the people to be very clique’. The showers we tried all only ran cold water, even when the timer was wound to hot setting, it appears many of the showers hot water timers are broken, the showers also poorly drained result in water right the door as such get changed with wet feet. The kitchen area was small and cramped. The toilets were OK but only one hot air hand drier for about 8-12 cubicles and were dirty the hand cleaner was just a foam cleaner dispenser not real soap. Overall a poor experience will not be recommending to others or a return visit. We complained to management and basically received a response that suggested it was all our fault and that we were ill prepared for camping... If your planning on tenting there, do your homework on the site they sell you and check it doesn't flood in heavy rain.

Ohope Top 10 Holiday park.
Not bad but cross the road and go to the Chinese/Thai restaurant as that place is superb with seating overlooking the lagoon. Quite a big site and don't expect to be treated as an individual though.
Bowentown beach holiday park. Better location than Ohope as you have Anzac Bay on the other side and best of all, a lovely beach to the East of Anzac Bay that has 170+ steps to get down to, but worth every second. The site itself also has access to the Ocean beach. Pretty good facilities and good customer service

we had a powered site with absolute beachfront, which was great! i could imagine that its a bit noisy in other parts of the camp, as there were a lot of families with children. but it seems, that staff separates it a bit, which is creditable. generally staff was very friendly and helpful, we felt very comfortable!
some more / bigger facillities would be preferable, cause with this amount of guests, we mostly had to queue to do the dishes or to take a shower.

The toilet block was horrible it was dated and only had 1 small sink in the ladies to use. I was so dissapointed as I had just spent my first night in a brilliant Top 10 site the night before. This site is in a really good location but i would of hated to visit when it was busy.

We’re always sad to hear when people have a bad experience with us. The block in question is the smallest of the 3 main blocks we have in the park. This should have been pointed out to you at the time of check in. We always advise campers when they arrive where the main block is. On a positive note this block is under development and will be done up before we head into the summer months

It’s always disappointing to hear the blocks were not up to scratch re cleanliness. We pride ourselves on this very thing. We employ a huge cleaning team over the summer months to make sure at any one time they are up to both our high standard and also Qualmark NZ’s standard as well. Our first cleaners start at 3.30am and move from one block to the next with the last cleaners finishing at 10pm. It is hard for us to explain that on the day in question for you this standard wasn’t as it should have been. It’s a shame you didn’t notify reception so we could have taken immediate action.
