The Lost Gypsy Gallery Bus

Random Goodness

My aim here is to reward the curious, to offer a creative place of wonder, beauty, gadgets and gizmos, made mostly from natural or recycled materials that will warm the heart of even the most cynical. An antidote to consumerism.

The Lost Gyspsy Gallery is open over summer from Labour Weekend (closed Wednesdays) and closed every day over winter.

One of the coolest places we have ever been!

Had no idea what to expect, and were delighted and impressed by all the quirky and fun creations! Like being a kid again, full of wonder and joy. Definitely don't miss stopping here, and pay the money to experience The Theater and support the artist!

An artist whom set up a lot of lovely unnecessary things, mainly built from rubbish, Most of the ideas you can enjoy for free, it is okay to spend $5 for the rest, because, in general, it is a great setup

, not mainly for the things you see more for the lovely ideas!

Amazing little bus with tons of quirky inventions and the $5 to get into the main gallery was well worth it.

    Good coffee too!

    Unbelievable!

Like being a kid again. Full of excitement and intrigue. Amazing creativity by the artist to turn seemingly mundane and useless junk into something fun and playful.

    WOW! What a find!

This place should be world famous! There is a green bus on the side of the road in Papatowai in The Catlins and in it is the most amazing collection of recycled junk mechanical art contraptions ever! It is a wonderland of bizzare and unique creations.

There are handmade automata and curios that are both artistic and very very funny. Be sure to go up the back into the garden/gallery/theatre where the artist keeps all the best stuff IT IS AMAZING!!

    Blair is a genius.

A free taster of his artistic wizardry in the bus, then $5 to visit the "theatre"-well worth every cent! If you like art you are allowed to touch, this is the place.

    A MUST SEE!!!!!!!!

It looks all cool from the outside, but it's 100x better then this. It's amazing! The creativity and the humor!

Make sure to pay the small fee (and sponsor this amazing never-ending project) to enter the garden. If you liked the bus, you'll LOVE it in the garden :)

This is surely a New Zealand treasure.

We stumbled across this bus that is run by an interesting local person and were astounded by his creations.

A little known attraction in a little known location.

A mixture of kiwi do it yourself and x factor artistry. One out of the box and really worth a look.

This place is a must if on a trip through the Catlins.

A fun and quirky experience that left me with a smile for the rest of the day. The simplicity and creativity of the owner's creations never failed to amuse me. We also paid into the $5 "theatre" and this was much the same experience. The $5 is defo worth it if only to give the owner some payback for his effort.
