This track is best split into two sections: Blue Cliffs to Port Craig, then Port Craig to Wairaurahiri River.
The first section from Blue Cliffs Beach to Port Craig takes about 7 hours and is 17km long. It meanders along the beach and through old logging roads. At Port Craig you can stay at the old school house.
From the Port Craig school the track follows an old logging tramway almost to the Wairaurahiri River. This section of the walk takes about 6 hours and is 16km long. You walk over a couple of viaducts and private land. At the end of the tramline the track enters mature bush and goes down three river terraces to a clearing and the Wairaurahiri Hut.
You can also get to this track via the Teal Bay Route.This track can also be combined with the Hump Ridge Track as a round trip. Options galore!!
