Both waterfalls are small and pretty, but not spectacular. They trickle over bluffs in rivulets, resembling brocades of jewellery. The white of the water is highlighted by deep green mosses, which encrust the surface and take advantage of abundant moisture.
Matai Falls are signposted on the left 5.5 km east of Maclennan, where there’s a large parking bay. The track starts over the footbridge.
