During this tour you will gently paddle along in a small group with your nature guide hugging the coastline. Features of interest and sea life will be pointed out by your guide. Sea dollars, sea cucumbers, starfish, sea slugs many types of edible seaweed and lots more can be found along the route. Chance sightings of endangered species such as hector dolphins, white flippered penguins and fur seals are also possible depending on the movements of nature on the day.
While exploring remote bays and inlets you can listen to stories about the extinct volcano you are paddling through, Akaroa is rich with Maori history and our waters were once teeming with whales, your guide will have a few stories to share with you! Enjoy checking out amazing geological features whilst gliding through the stunning turquoise waters of the marine reserve.

During the tour enjoy detailed commentary from your knowledgeable nature guides who will answer any questions you may have along the way. Akaroa is one of the best sea kayaking destinations in New Zealand and our guides love welcoming visitors from all over the world.

A comfort break on a remote beach for around 20 minutes will be optional, during this time you can explore, swim or simply soak up our pure New Zealand environment. Your guide will provide you with a kiwi secret, New Zealand’s world famous cookie time cookie, straight from the factory in Christchurch!
