Time: 2 hours return

Follow a good shingle road to the start of the track and then pass old Denniston mine relics and tunnels, plus a classic old mining farmhouse along this easy-going walkway.

The NZ govt is currently looking at re-opening mine operations in this pristine area, lets hope it stays closed to mining and unspoilt for the good of the environment.

Not so much history in NZ - go to Denniston, interesting free documentation about coal mining on a 600m high plateau.
