$20 per night is pretty expensive for a site where there is no soap in the soapdispenser in the toilet.

Easy place to pull into with a bus for the night.
Awesome rope swing for kids and public toilets are basic but fine. Nice flat sites and heaps of safe space to run around. No views really as just next to a tidal river but walk to cool rocky/ muddy beach takes about ten min so all good for $10 a site!

Windy drive down to the site.
Peaceful and quiet but the river is heavily contaminated so not very nice to be by. The water is not drinkable and signs to not drink the water at every tap. If there was freshwater here it would get a higher rating.

Nice tidy spot close to river.fresh water, flush toilets.
There is a very steep drop to the river, means be very careful where the kids would be playing. Saw a Royal Spoonbill feeding on the riverbed. River is tidal.
I forgot, excellent cell coverage as well if you want it donation envelopes here

Wow peace and tancility.
Just the basics, no personal grooming. Know the tides. Fish, get mussels, Paua no your limits. Lots of fun here sheltered from the wind. Bring a basketball, tennis racket, bowling balls for next time. Loved it

We would probably never go back only because of the lack of water fun for my kids, but we did noticed a lot of boats so must be good out in the water.
Great little place to camp out there
The drive was nice views,
Downside was to get to the beach you had to climb down a hill to a rocky shore beach that was hard to get to, and for water rat children that was difficult
Toilets were looked after daily topped up and checked
Nice little hide away
Really good value camp site for only $10 per site

Nice spot down a lovely village, a lot of space with two toilets and a sink.

Lovely and quiet setting next to the river, just enough space on the shoreline to pull up a chair and take in the tranquillity.
Short walk to the beach but not really for swimming. Older, but clean toilets. Well worth the $10 donation.
No cellphone coverage

Nice secluded site next to the river, doesn’t look much but just look at the surroundings, seabirds like spotted shags and oystercatchers roosting on the riverbank.
We also saw five kingfishers hunting the creek. We were the only ones on the site, clean male and female toilets and an outdoor clean up area with several picnic tables as well. A lovely quiet nights sleep.

Very nice and well maintained campsite, $10 donation per site which goes back into maintaining the site.
Quite far from the main road and the village has no shops so bring food with you! Overall I would recommend this very cute campsite.

Very lovely, isolated place and village, quiet place with lots of room, river next to you where the tide comes in and out.
Toilet facilities have been redone and are fabulous, you have a male side and female side, both have real toilets that flush and a sink. There is tap water outside the toilet with a very large sink. We used it to top up our campervan, you can drink it without any problems. It is a very good place to relax before or after Christchurch or after doing the Dolphin Encounter. We recommend it to everyone. Caution, no food store so make sure to get your food before.

Very good spot to sleep one night if you want to stop before or after Christchurch.
The only problem is this is a little bit far away from the main road (14km). But a very quiet place with toilet. Near a river and a small village. Camping is free or you can give a donation

The toiletts are not very clean. The view is awesome when you go through the town to the sea!
