One of the best places we have stopped so far.

Lovely facilities and a very well equipped kitchen - the log fire was the cherry on top!

Almost everyone decides to extend their stay! Sparkling clean, bathroom cute colors, music in the bathroom for a relaxing and free hot shower. Excellent wifi. A couch in the common area would be a nice addition, but that's the only note as this place was lovely

    What a little gem!

The site was immaculate- lovely trees and grounds. The showers and kitchen were spotless and there was a fab screen that let the sun in and the sandflies out! Oh and a wonderful veranda with coloured loungers. The host was very friendly and helpful and excess produce from the garden was put in the kitchen for campers use.

This was the best Park we stayed in on North or South Island.

Location is stunning and staff and facilities top notch. It’s not in town (which is why it’s so nice) but only a short drive away you can find really good dinner and a phenomenal breakfast (try the banana and bacon pancake stack) at the Rivers Cafe.

    Great surprise!

Awesome camp, lots of space, absolutely immaculate, well presented and very spacious facilities. The river runs along the back of the camp. It’s crystal clear and tracks have been made to two glorious swimming holes. The river temperature was 22 degrees on my visit. I went in at 10pm before bed. Fabulous!!!!

I am a solo traveller and I love this place, mostly other solos and couples all chatting in the kitchen in the evening (always great cruisie music playing) and swimming in one of the amazing swimming holes

. Karen, the host is always friendly and the cleanliness of the place is to her credit. As for the bugs, they are around from Nelson Lakes to Milford Sound, that's the South Island for you. The screened in area of the kitchen keeps the bugs out (and Karen sells a great repellant which does the trick).

I have mixed feelings about this place...

The place itself is nice, you get to choose were you camp, there is lots of shaddy areas and you are on grass, the place is well maintained.

But... It was quite annoying to have to pay for a baby.

The kitchen closes at 10pm... It really felt like we could not enjoy a chilled evening drinking tea and reading and were kicked out.

    ..

And while showering the lights turned off by 9.30pm. Not very pleasant.

Other than that, nice to have fresh herbs in the kitchen, the kitchen appliances were provided, it was lacking a kettle though.

River is a short walk away, but... Sandflies are fierce!!

Lovely clean tidy grounds with great facilities.

Very modern, recycling, water, dump station, and laundry. Handy to have fly screens around the kitchen as the sandies are annoying. Great swimming hole at the river. Bit of road noise but it quickly goes quiet later in the evening. 22$pp non powered, great value.

Re the Internet, it is by way of a rural satellite and is perfectly fine for the many people who use it for there work and general catch up with friends, etc. For most of the world cup games campers used the tv in the kitchen, great atmosphere, especially for the final as we had 2 campers from Argentina - no French that night. As for road noise that mostly ceases by 9pm and I would say was less than a town park.

As the check out time is 10am and you were not paying to stay an extra night whether the bathrooms were available or not should not have bothered you as you should have been on your travels for the day. As permission was granted for you to stay a while after 10 am to allow your infant to sleep was given on the condition you were not to make use of the amenities block. You agreed to this. You had a fully self contained camper so this shouldn't have been a problem. As for charging for infants everyone pays a fee for staying and as you will know there is a cost associated with infant care. Often parents make use of the family bathroom and there is always disposal of rubbish to be dealt with.

    Fantastic place to stop by!

Incredibly clean facilities (both kitchen and bathrooms/shower). The laundry facilities are coin operated and are fantastic. The owner is incredibly nice and helpful. We tented close to the river - plenty of room and lovely soft and flat grass. There are quite a lot of sand flies but the the kitchen/dining area is a cosy escape! The gold coin donation for some fresh vegetables from her garden - or 50c per free range egg - is a lovely touch! River had a great swimming hole area too. We will definitely be back when passing through!

Bit disappointed after the amazing reviews of this place.

The communal areas were fairly average, kitchen had everything you needed, but the bathroom was full of mosquitos and sand flies both in the evening and the morning. Having a shower with them was less than appealing and the water pressure was not very strong.

Quite a flat greeting from the owner too, made for a disappointing stay.

Overall fine, just not as incredible as reviews lead you to believe.

    Lovely place, everything you need.

Friendly hosts, nearly perfect amenities, as someone else said, a shelf/rack in the shower would be nice.

Would not recommend if you are allergic to bees, there are hundreds if not thousands of them. They pretty much leave you alone, but if you knew you were allergic it would be terrifying.

    This place is fantastic.

As soon as we pulled in there was friendly wave and reassurance we would be given assistance soon. The site is large and gives everyone enough space. it sits on the edge of two lovely swimming spots by the river and also has books to read to pass the time. We felt instantly relaxed as we set up here.
