I definitely would go back here.
We were very nicely welcomed, nice spots between the trees with lot of privacy, clean facilities (only negative side, the hair dryer was only working with cold air. And one hair dryer is not that much). Only 2 washing machines, 1 is working only cold.
The location is beautiful, middle in the nature.

This is camping ground situated in an amazing location which is well worth exploring.
So many great walks and hikes.
The facilities are aging now but it is holding together just enough to make this a positive experience.
We had a lodge room which is cheap and cheerful. The bunk beds were fine but the loud air con/heat pump means it sounds like a car running just outside the window.
The sites for campervans looked really nice and private in amoungst the forest.
Nice people running the campsite too.

This is a great place.
While it feels a bit outdated and in need of a reno, everything is in good working order. Great kitchen and cooking facilities, drying room, and functioning washer and dryers. Staff are very friendly. I had an issue with the dryer and was fully refunded no questions asked. Plus, it’s beautiful. Feels very secluded.

We’ll equipped holiday park, $53 for two adults on a powered site for one night.
Lots of kitchen utensils available, laundry facilities okay although the drying room wasn’t very effective when we stayed. Probably because it rained the whole time. Lots of nice day walks nearby with the Tamar lakes route highly recommended!

We booked a lodge room but would recommend also the powered sites.
In the beginning, we thought of it as a bit run down, as all amenities are a big aged. But the quality is quite high, the location amazing, the staff friendly, there is surprisingly good and stable wifi, a little food truck with very good food, and everything gets cleaned regularly. The atmosphere is very nice. The 2-3 Maori ladies maintaining the park, shop and food truck seem to be doing a good job.
There are shuttles stopping at the Holiday Park for the Tongariro Crossing (separate booking).

Beautiful campsite with a lot of privacy.
We stayed there for two nights because of the shuttle bus to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The shuttle bus will pick you up in front of the reception. Really nice. The kitchen is good. We used the wasmachine but there was only one because the other one was broken. This was not enough for so many people. There is a drying room which was really nice.

I stayed before and after hiking the Tongariro Northern Circuit.
I left my bags for free during the 4 day hike, and the shop had enough to add things I didn’t bring with me. I got a backpacker bed in the lodge for $28 a night, and had the whole room to myself one of the days. On weekends the place fills up so make sure to book ahead. There is a kitchen with all equipment needed, shuttles are easy to access, and a food truck with burgers, icecream, and coffee sets up outside.
