This campsite is near Awana Beach, one of the island's most popular places to surf.

Just 300m from one of the Bazza's most amazing surf beaches. Large grassy campsites are situated next to the Awana estury, make sure you take insect repellent (it's almost west coast-ish...). A great base from where you can swim, surf, fish and walk. Really cute little brown teal (pateke) roam freely.

Great Barrier Island free of rats, mustalids, hedgehogs and possums, but has ship rats and mice. Argentine ants are also not welcome - please check your gear, boats, kayaks for these pests and destroy any ants you find. Kauri dieback disease is present. Keep to the defined tracks, clean your footwear before and after visiting kauri forest areas, and stay away from kauri tree roots.

Set back from the beach on some grassy dunes.
It's a short hop over the dunes to the most stunning sandy beach, which happens to pump when the swell is running. - Lots of interesting coastline to fossik and explore nearby too.
