Personally this is an amazing landmark to climb.

Don't left the lack of promotion fool you, this is without question the best hill to climb in Fiordland National Park. It is mostly climbed by locals, especially for the Fiordland College Annual School Camp. The official route is a DOC Trail from Rawiri Bay but there is an unofficial route from the Hope Arm Track from a few hundred meters down stream from the Garnoch Burn Swing Bridge, that skirts the base of the Monument along the shore of the Black Lake Below aka Lake Pokarekare Ana.
