Gillespie Pass Circuit

Time: 3 - 4 days, Distance: 58 km

This is an awesome walk with amazing mountain views. It is not suitable in winter, and at all other times only to be undertaken by experienced groups. This circuit can be walked both clockwise or anti-clockwise. Groups with river crossing experience may wish to cross the Makarora River, otherwise there is jetboat transport available to cross the Makarora River into either the Young or Wilkin valleys.

A proper tramping mission.
This 3 or 4 day hike is well worth it for the fit or experienced. Two great huts to stay at and a waterfall plunge pool included at one of them. It is pretty steep going over the Saddle but worth it as is the side trip to Crucible Lake!

Beautiful views, mountains, nice climbing, nice scenery, huts ok - but not water supply, not so tidy.
