Hana Sky
Your Host
My name is Hana Sky Walker and I am the creative director of Tipuna Tours. I come from a family that values our culture, language and identity very much. Tipuna translated in Māori means ancestor. Growing up in Uawa – Tolaga Bay, my siblings and I were exposed to so many rich and magical learning experiences throughout the East Coast.
Throughout the years I watched Aunty Anne, my parents, uncles and aunties share our tribal stories about our place with visitors from near and far.
In our spare time, you will catch me up the hill or in the rockpools down at the beach with my husband Liam and two little ones or out with friends wining and dining at some of our fine local hot spots.
We look forward to welcoming you here!

Journey to the shores of New Zealand’s first encounters - Where heritage and history come to life
Since the first encounters between European and Māori at Tolaga Bay, the welcoming spirit and manaakitanga (hospitality) of this region continues to grow. It is through the hosting of manuhiri (guests) and the sharing and exchanging of our stories that helps keep our rich cultural heritage alive.
Our Māori guided tours are cultural, historical and bespoke. By foot or by 4 x 4, our tours can be tailor made to your travel needs and interests.
Based at Tolaga Bay on the East Coast of the North Island, our stunning location and ease of access to historical sites of significance offers our visitors a truly unique and authentic experience.
We invite you to the experience the birthplace of New Zealand – on a journey from 18th century New Zealand to present day and learn about the events that forever shaped Aotearoa to the country we know today.
