Mt Nimrod Campsite

A quiet campsite on the eastern flank of the Hunter Hills. There is a 3.5 km forest walk to a podocarp forest remnant.

The Mt Nimrod Camping Ground is a quiet campsite southwest of Timaru on the edge of the Hunter Hills Conservation Area. There are picnic and recycling facilities here as well as some nice walks through the forest.

DOC Standard Campsite

Standard campsites have a more limited range of facilities and services than Serviced campsites. These campsites have toilets, a water supply that could be treated or untreated tap water, or from a stream or lake, and vehicle or boat access. Bring your own soap for washing hands. Untreated water should be boiled before use to ensure it's safe. Wood BBQs and fireplaces, cold showers, picnic tables, a cooking shelter and rubbish bins may be provided; this will vary from site to site.

    Peaceful and quiet campsite in the nature.

    Take the 6km circuit track from the bottom to the top of the hill. Very good scenery, you will walk through the 'jungle' and 10 minutes later be surrounded by green and yellow hills. Hard track.
