Greville Harbour, D'Urville Island.
Stunning, remote campsite adjacent to a surf beach with good fishing, kayaking, hunting, tramping and mountain biking nearby.
Between 16 September and 30 October 2024 DOC will be conducting a cattle control operation largely around the lake and wetlands within D’Urville Island Scenic Reserve (see attached plan PNG, 600K).
The operation will target only cattle and will be achieved by aerial shooting with the use of thermal hunting equipment and/or using ground hunters.
Safety protocols exist for target identification and so there is no risk to visitors who may be in the area at the time. The impact on visitors is from the noise of helicopters and rifle shots, particularly at Moawhitu Campsite.
For further information contact Picton DOC office on picton@doc.govt.nz.
